Thread: I'm looking for Blue tinted lipgloss/balm. Do you have any other makeup fixes?

Hi,

I bought a red lipstick that is more an orange undertone (looked blue in the store), and I can't take it back.

I've heard I can 'fix' it with a blue tinted lipgloss/balm.
I bought a gloss the other day that I thought looked blue (Auqa something), but I think it's the packaging.
Any recommendations?

I haven't tried a blue, but I do have a black lipstick that is like a balm. It mattifies and intensifies colour. There's a gloss version as well. It's by Lipstick Queen.

ETA you can probably create a blue by mixing some blue eyeshadow pigment into a gloss, or even vaseline.

Maybe you could buy some blue powder eyeshadow, and mix a little bit of it in with the lipstick. I.e., get a lip brush and a glob of the lipstick, and mix it up with the blue powder in a little container or something, and apply with the lip brush.

Bare Escentuals has a kit with two translucent eye shadows for mixing, called "Sun Goddess" and "Ice Queen". Sun Goddess mixes with other colors to give a warm golden tint, and Ice Queen mixes with other colors to give a cool frosty tint. So maybe something like Ice Queen would work.

Benefit has a blue gloss that makes teeth look whiter, it may also work for this.

No mixing involved: just apply blue eye shadow directly to dry lips and then apply lipstick on top. I do this when I can't get a magenta or fuschia shade that is cool (i.e. blue) enough for my liking.

I do the opposite- apply lipstick & then 'set' with mineral powder- but that would depend on what eyeshadow/powder you have on hand, it obviously wouldn't work with a blue that is too strong! I'm usually going the opposite direction tho & use browns & golds. I like Herbs of Grace- a little less expensive than Bare Essentials.

All those suggestions would work! Also, if you really want a blue gloss, MAC makes a blue Dazzleglass that works wonders.

i usually take a clear gloss, put some on my hand and mix in some blue eyeshadow & eyeshadow base. stays on for AGES!

I think bourjois has a blue gloss also. There was a blue toned juicy tube but I think it may have been discontinued.

I like the Benefit blue lip gloss. Its super minty and kinda sparkly too.

Cover Girl has a blue lip gloss in that line that is for freshening your breath. I can't remember what they are called, but they combined with the Crest toothpaste company to make minty gloss. I'm not sure how much difference it'll make for you, but it's a cheap, fun option to try.
