brow waxing, wow!
I admitted it over on facebook but i had my brows waxed a few days ago, what a huge difference it makes. Pain and not wanting to depart with money kept me from doing it in the past. But now ..wow.....the things I can do with eye shadow
anyone have some waxing love stories?

That's one of the things that I had to cut out of my budget. I also had to give up my hairdresser, and he was the last to go.

Re: brow waxing, wow!
I do my own brows and am pretty good at shaping them but I go to a pro about every 2 months or so, they can really clean up the under-brow area of the really fine hairs that I cant get with tweezers, and the last person I went to did such an amazing job of shaping my brow, that I want to go back more often. It is definitely worth it, and not really that expensive, I think it was $15 or $20......? Worth it, in my opinion.

I get mine waxed every two months or so, cleaning up with tweezers in between. I found a spa that does it for $12! But yes, it's amazing how great eye makeup can look - I never knew all those years I never plucked or waxed!

Re: brow waxing, wow!
hehe, isn't it fabulous? When I moved back to the East Coast, I went to my mom's gal (I couldn't even get my curly, fine but plentiful hair cut right on the West Coast, I wasn't even about to risk the eyebrows), and it really was a world of difference. (My first thought was, "gee, I feel like a real woman now! lol) Now I need to find someone up here in RI (or go down to NJ every few months lol), I'm pretty good on my own with keeping them clean and in shape, but waxing is definitely easier for all of the finer hairs that are hard to see. And yes, it's like a whole new canvas to paint on!

Yes, excellent way to phrase, a canvas to paint on!

Right there with ya. I started with the chin and lip, then thought "what the hell, do the brows". It's easier than plucking. My shaping is very minimal - I have good eyebrows anyway. But now I don't have to pluck!
I get waxing every three weeks, which is quite often, but worth it. And to my surprise, the brow barely hurts at all.

Another threader here, but my lady left, so I'm on the lookout for another one.
The area between your eyebrow and your eyelid is known as "prime realestate" in the beauty world.

Re: brow waxing, wow!
My sister finally (!) convinced me about 13 years ago to get my "bushy" brows waxed. Since then, I go every 4-8 weeks. Can't bear the pain of plucking but waxing isn't that terrible. ,r:; Also, I have a fabulous esthetician who I feel, gives me good-looking brows...g.: Can't beat that!

Re: brow waxing, wow!
my girl was so good, she didn't even touch my skin cancer scar...before my eyebrow was uneven due to the stretching to close the incision but now its a heck of a lot less noticeable, she did a great job. i told her please don't open that incision it will cost a ***** to get it closed again ..g.:
love being able to paint the whole eye..and agreed, its worth the price
got a bikini wax yesterday ..im pretty impressed

Re: brow waxing, wow!
oh i cant live without doing my eyebrows! i have really hairy eyebrows and i refuse to let them get out of control. i've been plucking them since i was 13 yrs old. i guess i got good at plucking because i get compliments on my brows all the time. i also have to pluck them every couple of days to maintain them.

Re: brow waxing, wow!
So how do they manage to shape so finely with wax? I always imagined there was a danger of accidently ripping the whole thing off/neighbouring hairs getting half caught and ripped out at weird angles etc?
Genuinly curious, as I am monster hairy

I get my eyebrows waxed about every two weeks and tweeze in between. Its so much easier than doing it all myself.

Re: brow waxing, wow!
Same here. I even have to trim them once a week. I also didn't realize people paid that much attention to eyebrows until I started getting compliments.
As far as waxing them, I don't do it too often (twice a year, maybe) because it usually causes breakouts. So, I make up for it by plucking... lot and lots of plucking. Although, I really want to give threading a try. Unfortunately, the one place I know of is a kiosk in the mall and I'm not ready to make a public show of my eyebrow grooming.

I just had mine done at a chichi spa in Vegas and I'm SOLD! Nicely shaped brows aren't just a perfect backdrop for eyeshadow - they also contour the entire face ..g.:

I'm a fan of threading. I think the shaping is more precise.
But it hurts like a mofo.

My best friend is an esthetician, and she is awesome enough to wax my brows for free. Nobody does 'em better than she does!
During the year I lived in Chicago, I would get my brows threaded every month or so. I loved how quick and inexpensive it was!

Re: brow waxing, wow!
Get it done. I don't "do beauty" on a regular basis (I only wear makeup when going out and for performances, and even that is recent!), but I highly recommend a good hair stylist and a good waxer. I have typical Arabic eyebrows - dark, thick, and if unkempt, they are out of control. I go about once every three or four months to whip them into shape and do my best to maintain them, but nothing touches having them done by someone GOOD. Even hubby, who is all about the natural look, compliments me when my brows are done.
Zorba - yes it hurts a bit, but as my waxer says, if you don't tear up when someone is taking out hair next to your eyes, something is wrong with you!

I get them done about every 3-4 weeks and couldn't live without it! I have a really well defined natural shape, but it looks so much better with the strays cleaned up!

Re: brow waxing, wow!
I did it 4 weeks ago - due again this coming Monday. Didn't really hurt much at all - and my dance sisters and I really like the improvement. Going to have her narrow them up by another quarter, and clip them closer this time.
