There is a deodorant at the drugstore you can get, without a prescription, that's called Certain Dri. Pay attention to the application instructions and test it before you have to wear it! It usually works for me. I also tack garment shields in the arm pit are of my tops with arms, if I can make it not obvious, which also helps preserve the fabric.

My daughter had to use the Clinical Strength Secret in order to stop her from sweating all the time. She uses that at night plus regular Lady Speed stick during the day and it solved her problem.

I use prescription. After a couple applications years ago I don't need it anymore and just use regular stuff, but MAN it was very troublesome. I would definately go get a prescription if it causes you grief.

Most effective product I've ever used, hands-down (or up!) was Drysol. It's a liquid that you dab on once or twice a week. The first week you use it, you put it on every night. It will prickle like crazy for the first couple of nights. You wash it off in the morning. After the first week, you need to apply it only every 4-7 nights, and it doesn't prickle much anymore. You don't need to use any other type of anti-perspirant, which is nice, because you don't get white marks, etc.

I used this in my late teens, early twenties, when I was a heavy perspirer and couldn't wear normal blouses, etc., without having armpit stains. Eventually, I guess my hormones settled down, and I didn't need to use it any more.

Drysol has come out with a lighter version, and I think it's similar to the Certain Dri that another Bhuzzer mentioned. I've bought Certain Dri for my teenaged daughter, and she found it better than most anti-perpirants, but I think it's not as strong as the regular Drysol.

Edited to add that, when I used to purchase Drysol, I had to ask for it at the pharmacy counter. It wasn't kept out on the shelves, although a prescription wasn't required.
