    Tabbed coin

I got some tabbed silver-ish coins recently, on a cord that is badly frayed in one place and tied in another.

I'd like to use them all on a (nice-looking) cord, but need some advice. One, what kind of cord should I used to put the coins on? And has anyone moved those coins from a cord to another cord? Is it a needlenose pliers job?

I am guessing that a cotton cord wrapped with fabric would do. But I don't have a clue about the unclamping and re-clamping of the coin tabs.

    Anyone already done this? TIA!

I just cut the coins off the cord they come on, I'm pretty sure those cords are meant to be temporary since they are so dirty (the cord mine came on smelled pretty bad). I don't think you can remove the tabs, if they are like the coins I have then I think they are soldered on. I attached mine to a costume by sewing them individually but attaching them to a cord seems like a good idea. As for what kind of cord and how to attach them I'd say just experiment and see what looks best! I'd love to see what you make!

I chopped the cord and unthreaded. Those coins are effectively pendants.

Do the coins come with spacers on the cord? Here's what I did - in my tribal years ;)
I bought a pair of black flat shoe laces (couldn't find the rounded kind) and put the spacers on one and the coins on the other. I then sewed the two laces by hand between the spacers and the coins. Hope that helps and gives you some ideas.

Sounds like I should just string them like beads on the thickest cord that works, then wrap the cord.

I know they can be sewed individually, and I've seen them strung with beads between the coins, too. But I kinda like the cord for a costume idea I have.

Thank you! The plan is that I'll use it for a hip belt drape. And the fabric around the cord will go with the colors I'm using.
