UPDATE, Tribal Vibes 09 - exciting news!

Well, the news is exciting to me.

I am still working on completing my new costume how-to book Tribal Vibes - yeah, I know it's behind schedule. I feel good about the beauty of what I'm creating, but still need to complete some of the how-to sections.

Anyway, on a page about Retro inspirations - specifically the Art Nouveau era (c. 1885-1910) - I wanted to place a couple images from the Artist Alphonse Mucha. I am comparing those images to the dancers pictured: Maureen from Hands of Kali (a profile in stunning headdress) and Tempest, in 19th-century inspired costume.

However, you can't just print such images without permission, because it might be a copyright violation. Big trouble...

I wrote to the Mucha Museum in Prague, Czech Republic. I sent them a image of the layout I had in mind and asking permission (as a longtime admirer of the great artist).

John Mucha wrote back to me giving permission, as long as I credit the Mucha Museum and send 2 copies of my book for their library.

SO! It's very cool. John M. is the grandson of the artist. He established the museum not long ago, to re-introduce and honor the artist in his own native land. Now it's one of the most visited in the country.

What was my point? Oh, yeah, i AM WORKING like crazy and will finish this week (I know I said that last month, but whatever). Then it goes to my proofreader, then the printer.

Ooooooo yes, the costume and jewelry images in Mucha's work are FABULOUS. Good for you and congratulations on being . . . almost done . . . with your book. Given what you've done already, we know it will be wonderful.

That must of been pretty exciting contacting the Mucha family and getting their blessing. Please keep us posted on when this book will be available.

I LOVE Mucha's work, and will definately have to add that to my list of things to visit when I'm in Prague.
