Anyone use Amla Oil?
So I've been reading up on Amla oil (Indian gooseberry), supposed to be good for your scalp, promote hair growth and help prevent premature graying. Anyone use it? I have read it has quite the smell...

Re: Anyone use Amla Oil?
i tried an amla shampoo once. it seemed to dry out my hair just like regular shampoo cause it has detergents in it :/

also tried the powdered herb mixture with oils. made a henna like mess that required shampoo to remove :/
perhaps the oil itself will be more beneficial

I used the oil for a couple of months, probably not long enough to see the results. It does have a very strong scent, didn't bother me but my husband HATED that smell. He says it smells like bad olive oil.

I would try it but I don't have that beautiful, thick, glossy, gorgeous Indian hair for it. My European-descent fluff pile would fall flat like a pancake.

I'd be skeptical of the hair growth aspect. I don't think there is much you can do to promote hair growth, besides eat well.

Re: Anyone use Amla Oil?
I've heard amazing things about it thickening up the hair and stuff.
Scalp massages with certain oils do promote hair growth like castor oil...
Imo, don't sleep on indian hair practices. Try them and see if they work for you. They have some amazing hair and their products and practices are not just hype... they have the hair to testify for it...

I've used the powdered stuff both on hair & on skin- mild astringent, I really liked it & need to get some more. don't know where I'd get the oil to try it tho.
