Thread: Hip scarf with both long fringe & coins/beads

Our instructor came back from a trip with a hip scarf with long fringe and at least one row of beads. (Sorry, I'll see again in the morning I hope.) So many hip scarves have just many beads and coins OR just fringe, that it was a big hit. We complimented her on it, and said oooooh do you have more? Well, she didn't anticipate anyone but her liking that style, so, no, she just got the one for herself and didn't know how to get more.

And really, it's not an overdone look, as there's fewer coins/beads and the fringe isn't spectacularly lush. ... of course it's Just Right.

My question is this: Where does one find this kind of scarf? Most have either many beads and coins or fringe, but not both. Have you seen this type of scarf? Can you point me there?

Usually I see coins and long fringe (a la The Belly Dance Shop - Products)

I know Scheherezade Imports had cool fringe/coins/maybe beads? - not on the website but I remember seeing them in the warehouse and going "ooh, must get one sometime". Very tribal.

I did not mention that it's a triangular-shaped scarf, so the fringe comes to a point, and not to the ankles. Don't know if that helps or ... not.

Yes, hers seems very tribal-ey and OMG it's cute! brown with gold coins. I'm not a fan of gold, but that brown, ummmmmyyyyy!

So...how long is the fringe then?

I had one like that in stock once at the studio, everyone wanted it!

I *think* it came in an assorted batch that I got from King of the Nile.

I bought that from a friend, I think. I like it with pants but not my big skirts - I lose the top volume in the skirt and I think it makes me look even more unbalanced bodywise.

The coins don't actually make much noise as they are more anchored to the velvet, so it's fairly quiet for a coin scarf. I like it for Zumba too.

Like 12-16 inches, the body of the scarf not a more solid fabric, more like the lighter ones. Just not that super-flimsy chiffon those $10 hip scarves are made of.

On me, 5'6", the fringe does to/past the knees.

That would be fine, but would be 1. a lot of work and 2. several other folks want one, also
