Thread: Show off the costumes you've made!

Hi all,

I'm just inspired by the beautiful work by the ladies in the thread "what are you working on..." I thought, it'd be fun to share the finished costumes you've made

I'll begin: I'm very proud of my gold costume -made everything except the wings of course, and the belt I just decorated it.

great idea!!! I am not going to contribute though. I'd be such a thread clogger! I counted and since last october I have made over 75 costumes. Yikes!

Eshta, it would be lovely to see them all - even if it did clog the thread!

This is one that I made a couple of months back. Working on another one now. Geesh, do-it-yourself is hard work!

LOL Thanks Eshta! I finished the costume then remembered I had the scarf in th same color! So it can be worn with or without. I love those things!

Hmmm... I feel dumb... but how do you insert the pic into your msg so it appears whole and not just the thumbnail??

Thnaks Qamar for posting the link.... OH Eshta, you're so talented!!! Where do you purchase your supplies, like beads and crystals??? Have you considered publishing a book on how to make your costumes?? I think it'll be a hit!

wow! I love this thread!!!! you guys are awesome! That red velvet one is soooo nice!

As to where I shop - I live in LA so I am close to one of the largest wholesale garment districts in the world. And if you are in LA you can go shopping with me anytime. I think there's a thread about that somewhere.
I do teach costume workshops. They are ongoing and require 4 people to get one started. They are 2 hour sessions - $25 a person.

I am also not going to thread clog...and it takes too much time

I'm proud of my two self-made costumes given how uncrafty and sewing-challenged I am.

I made the bra to this costume about a year and half ago. My first homemade bra ever. Then after getting some inspiration from one of Ansuya's costumes and discovering that the fabric store still had the lace, I decided to make a matching belt and skirt. I'm most proud of the skirt, which is hard to see in this picture, but it's a panel skirt with a lace insets in the front and back.



I bought the fabric for this costume years ago. I pulled 2 yards off a remnant pile and sat on it for a long time. This was back in my early tribal days when I was thinking I would make a choli and flat panel skirt out of it. So glad I didn't. I added some crystals to it, but it's super hard to see in this photo. I've found I just pick pretty, shiny fabrics and let them do the heavy lifting since I can't bead at all.



BTW, Ozma, the peacock costume is amazing!!!!
