Thread: Bella full-skirt leafy embelishments?

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone knows how Bella makes those leaf-shaped drapes? If anyone owns a costume with them, can you tell me if they are separate leaf-shaped pieces of chiffon sewn together, or one piece? It looks like she has some way of cutting the fabric so that it hangs like a string of leaves (Beautiful!!!). I'm working on a couple of full skirts and I'd love to add this design to them!

In the swap meet, there was an orange Bella-inspired costume (it SOLD right away!:)) that was hand-made by an extremely talented dancer & costumer, right down to those leafy embellishments that she added as "extras" hanging at intervals from the belt!!! I can't remember her name right now, but I'D LOVE TO KNOW HOW SHE MADE THOSE... ..g.:

Yup, those are them! It looks to me like the leaf pattern is different than the spirals though. The spirals are made from a circle cut into a spiral (similar idea to making a ruffle), but the leafy costumes look a bit different... Maybe she just does different lengths and then has the bottom of the spiral leaf shaped? Ah well, both look pretty :)

Ive got several Bella skirts with the leave showing in defferent ways. I have them attached to sequined rope and attached to the belt, I have them on material and attached to skirt, I have them attached to the slits of the skirts for extra modesty and I have them attached randomly on a skirt. Ill try and take some pics to show you the different ways Bella attaches them.

I tried the spirals. They turned out pretty nice but I have yet to attach them!
