Thread: Elastic on a skirt... too tight??

Hi costume goddesses!

I recently ordered a skirt with elastic on the waistband. Everything fits perfectly, except that the elastic is a little bit tighter than I'd like (those love handles do not look attractive, noo ) I was wondering if there's an easy way to make the elastic more loose??

Cut open the elastic case and then cut the elastic band. Sew an extra piece of elastic to the severed area on both ends and then resew the case up.

Sometimes there will be a row of stitching in the center of the band that makes it look like it's not meant to come apart. That's just there to keep the elastic from getting twisted inside the casing. You can pick it those stitches out and then the elastic will be free inside the casing.
