Thread: Wrong Size From bellydancestore.biz

Just received two skirts that I ordered early October. They are beautiful but, one is 3" shorter and the other 1.5" longer than the size that I ordered. Would you give me some advice on how to deal with this headache? Many many thanks for your time in advance.

This happened to me. I ordered a costume listed as a B and got a D-cup ,m::

I altered it and ultimately passed it along to the Swap Meet, but won't order from them again after getting something 2 sizes too big. If only vendors made our lives easier instead of complicating everything.

I'm pretty sure you can return the skirt if it wasn't a custom order. Are the tags still attached?

Yea... she gets the sizes wrong a lot. It happened to me a few times.

Im still waiting for my skirts I ordered back at the beginning of September :( Im thinking I am going to have to start ordering direct from Amira-if she does it.

This happened to me as well too. I ordered a Great Loops and specified what I needed the bra length to be. Instead, the bra I received was about 3 inches too short. I emailed Abby that evening and received a response first thing in the morning. We made arrangements for me to return the bra and she sent out a new one asap. Within 10 business days, it was all taken care of and I had received the correct size.

I was very pleased with the service and the solution to my problem and I would not hesitate to buy from them again. I can't sing enough of praises about Abby. She took care of everything and made it right.

Women's sizes and bodies are SO varied. It's important to remember that there are few "standards".
In addition, there are various places/ways things can be measured. For example a skirt can be measured center front, at the side or at the back and the measurement might be different each time... AND the same can be said for hip to floor measurement when measuring on a woman AND on different women of the same height and leg length. One woman might have more booty curve, one woman might have more hip curve and one woman might have a little bit of belly. This WILL effect how the length falls.
More curves need more length in fabric. Let's say we have two women who are 5'9". The one with more curves will need more length in the skirt, especially with a tight lycra skirt.
A C cup on a large ribcage is different from a C cup on a small ribcage. There also are wide set and close set breasts... just so many variations. I've worked in a couple costume shops for theatres (making costumes, not stores)... there are ways to measure that are standard in the professional world that don't always mesh with the "store size" women label themselves under.
I DO know that bellydancestore carefully has women of ALL cup sizes working there- and when it comes time to measure questionable bra sizes for example the girls will ALL hold the bra up to themselves- comparing. It's actually quite comical sometimes. If there are questions about how much something will stretch the girls will try something on to make sure it will fit certain measurements.
Pharaonics standard skirts are usually within a couple inches in length. She has also provided a cm measurement to cup size chart which they use... although beading makes variations.
That being said- mistakes happen. Are these skirts able to be hemmed? If so I'd think about doing just that. If not- contact the belly dance store.
