Costuming for Tulay-styled high kicks and turkish floorowork?

    Hi Everyone!

I am looking for your favorite costuming recommendations for high kicks, a la Tulay Kuraca style, or for a little bit of floor work. I really can't wear harem pants or full circle skirts- I am too short and they make me look like a mushroom. I've seen a lot of the lebanese dancer swearing lycra skirts with really high slits when they do their floorwork.

Would two side slits work better? Your thoughts? (Incidentally, I would probably wear spakly bike shorts or dance shorts underneath for extra coverage!)

You and I definitely have the same overall tastes and phobias in costuming! ..l;, And I love me some Tulay ..g.:

I just found out, to my great surprise, that I can actually pull off circle skirts if they're made of a heavy, drapey fabric, and if they have two side slits. If you're gonna do the high kicks, make sure to wear some boy shorts underneath!

I stay away from the Harem Scarum's unless I'm doing a very long sequence of floorwork, which is very rare.

Ha ha ha! harem scarum's! No joke! I have a leopard print set of bell bottoms and those are the only pants i will wear for floor work, but I would definitely prefer a skirt.

So Satinworship, do you mean something in a satin? Is that heavy? I am new to anything other than velvet or lycra...

Satin or china silk move beautifully. Even a heavier chiffon, like a georgette would be nice. Anything that kinda hangs, rather than pouffing out. If that makes sense!
