Hair Fall Recommendations...
I need to get a fall. I'm doing a Shemadan duette with another dancer who has very long hair, whereas mine is only bra strap length (If I wore a bra, that is! ..l;,) and we do the "hair lift thing" backs to audience. Aside from cutting/stealing said dancer's hair (which would be a perfect match), what/where/who/how should I go about this? Vendors? Type? Color matching? Things I need to know? Wearing a fall with a Shemadan? Etc...
Please educate me...

Re: Hair Fall Recommendations...
if you will have a shamadan on your head the whole time, i recommend clip in or braid in hair extensions instead of a whole fall, because most commercial falls will be too thick to wear under your shamadan, if it has been sized to your "natural" head shape.
that said, you can order custom human hair pieces, that are thinner. perhaps a 1/2 back piece or 3/4 cap. but this will take about a month to make. if you want to go this route, email me - i've got the hookup ;)
info at sabrinabellydancer dot com
wax is much harder to get out of synthetics than human, cause hot wax can melt the synthetic fibers! ick
also, re: color
make sure you check out a color ring before you buy, if possible, cause a #6 with one vendor is more like a #4 with another, etc. human hair tends to have a bit different color scale than synthetic. ex. i wear a synthetic #4 but a human #2 (1 shade darker)
good luck!

Re: Hair Fall Recommendations...
Since the shamadan would cover the top of your head, I second Sabrina on clip in extensions.
And they are very easy and cheap to make yourself. Hie thee to a beauty supply store, purchase long human hair on the weft (can color match there), and sew in wig clips (available at the beauty supply store). For even cheaper, I think you can get away with synthetic hair.
Cut 2 pieces from the weft long enough to cover the back of your head and sew on wig clips! Ta-da!
Search google and youtube for "how to make clip in hair extensions" and a lot of results come up.

OK, I gotta pipe in here. I highly recommend wearing a scarf on your heads tied in back for both of you, with your faux hair sewn or pinned into the scarf. The scarf will help hold the shamadan on, and having hair below the hatline of the shamadan is essential. The knot in back helps hold the shamadan in place too. It doesn't have to be a really big scarf, but it really makes a difference in control.
Good luck, and have fun! Maybe post piccys? :-)

Dr. Locks extension company is probably the place to go for hair extensions, be they clip in, loose or wheft. Dr. Locks is actually REALLY fast with her shipping, and is more than happy to answer questions. She can also do colour matching as well if the situation calls for it.

As for how to wear it, I also echo people's suggestions to wear only a clip in peice along with the shamadan. There are some clip in epices available at most beauty supply stores, and both Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson have their own lines of clip in hair extensions.
And please, do yourself a favour and get good quality hair. Yes, it's more expensive, but it's worth the price. Read over Dr. Locks comments and stuff on hair quality. Sorry to say but those jumbo packs of kankelon hair are cheap for a reason.
