    Bling

I have a black and green costume in the works. It's a tribaret style. I need a necklace and earrings but am not having much luck. Where do you guys like to buy your costume jewelry?

I've bought a bunch from Latifa in the retail swap meet. I've also had some luck at Claires. But if you're looking for something more tribal looking, try Ebay.

Do you have Trade Aid shops or similar in the US? There are a lot of very reasonably priced, nice pieces made in India or similar that have a pleasing tribal-ethnic-yet-modern vibe in those shops. If I were a tribal type of person I would definitely shop there for lighter more modern bling that still had the right kind of feel. A lot of the pieces are very chunky and dramatic.

Depending on what particular style you're hoping for, you might be able to make it yourself. If you're not looking for set stones (e.g., Kuchi style or rhinestones), a lot of jewelry making can be accomplished with a basic jeweler's pliers and a little technique with head/eye pins and jump rings. There are a lot of great chandelier bases (ornate dangles to customize) for earrings on the market, and Michaels carries a whole line of Near- and Far-Eastern inspired components and beads. Any other craft store that sells beads and findings can get you started, too. Once you make the initial investment in basic supplies and get the hang of working with connectors (not difficult), you can kick out customized earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and headpieces whenever you like. PM me if you want help getting started on a project.

I went to Michael's yesterday and I saw all those new bead collections. I spent waaaaay too much money.
