Chiffon circle skirt with narrow panel in front...
I fell in love with a fabric at Joanns over the holidays. Unfortunately, there was not enough of it to do a 3 panel circle skirt. I am curious to know if any one has done a circle skirt with 2 panels (half circle each) in the back and a half panel (Quarter circle) in the front? (It would be worn over a traditional three panel skirt)
If you have, do you have pics?
Alternately, has anyone seen this stuff at Joanns? If you have, I would love to have someone pic up another 3 or 4 yards and send it to me! lol

It is a super sheer, synthetic chiffon in varigated shades ranging from eggplant to grape to magenta, that has a pattern with a tiny bit of silvery metallic woven in. The attached pic appears a bit lighter and redder than the original.
Its marked $6 a yard, so right now is $3 a yard (clearance fabric is 50% off btw. . . ). It looks like it rings up as PLM-GRY TD CLP PS CH 400096395927.

Yes! You're taking me back to my youth! Very retro "American" style. Except, back in the day, many folks had slits on either side of the front panel with no harem pants or other skirt underneath! Whoa! (Personally, I wore sheer harems or skirt; my legs are not my strong suit!)

Wow, gorgeous fabric! I will go check my local Joanns for you tomorrow or Monday when I'm out running errands.

Suheir(Soheir) Zaki often wore that type of skirt with 2 half circles in back and a single quarter panel in front with slits between the quarter panel and the back panels. I like the look and it should look great over another skirt too!

Re: Chiffon circle skirt with narrow panel in front...
Thanks! I figured it would look ok, especially with the darker purple I found for the underskirt (even got a neat magenta that would make awesome harem pants if I wanted to do three layers), but HOPING I can still scrounge up that extra yardage in the event I dont want to layer (or show too much thigh). This fabric looks AMAZING with the silver great loop I just got so really itching to get this skirt cut out!

I would prefer a full half circle front and the other 2 pcs for the back. It would give a fuller, rich look to the front.

Ha ha ha ha!! Fabric whore! :) (Takes one to know one of course. I woke up this morning and first thought were about new ideas for some fabric I have!)
I've had that same problem with not enough of a faaaaabulous fabric and did exactly what you said with just a 1/4 panel in front. It looks lovely with an underskirt or pants. I don't have pictures that show it though.
Alternatively you could try calling around to other area Joanne's stores.

Re: Chiffon circle skirt with narrow panel in front...
I am awful, Samira. I already have a teal chiffon with silver sequins on it (and a plain teal for an underskirt) and the same thing in raspberry that I was going to make skirts out of, and then I saw this mottled purple and it HAD to be mine!
I purchased the original yardage in East Liverpool, OH. And looked in Boardman, OH for more then next day. I was at Robinson Township, PA, the day prior and dont recall seeing it there (as I would have bought it then). I had planned to look at the local stores today, but its SO cold I might not venture out. Will likely trek out to a few this week though. I didnt get the sku number off the bolt, and not sure if the code that shows on the receipt will help them track it down for me if I call.
I so want more of this (I am envisioning sleeves as well!)

I just did a 1.5 circle skirt in purple with a quarter panel in front and a half circle panel in back both in a lighter purple that was more expensive. I'll post a pic soon so you can see how it turned out... looks nice to me anyway.

I make 'em like that.
Either 1/4 panel in front and 3/4 in back with one seam up the back
or...
1 circle in back and 1/2 in front
or...
1/2 panel front and back.
All with 2 slits.
It's about preference I think.

Nazirah, I was at my local Joann's today and they had some of the fabric you want. I almost bought it for you, but thought I'd check and see if you still want it. I even have a 40% off coupon I'd be willing to use on it. I can go back either tomorrow or Friday if you want it. Let me know.

No problem, Nazirah. I should be able to get there tomorrow. I didn't look to see if it was on sale or not, but if it isn't I'll use my 40% off coupon for it. I'll touch base with you tomorrow afternoon and let you know how much it was.
