Thread: How's the swap meet going?

I'm fixin' to post some costumes. I guess everyone is broke from Christmas...but I am curious to know how things are moving on the swap meet? If the price is right are people still buying?

Things are generally not selling well at all. Things like Bellas and Great Loops that would last only minutes are now sitting around unsold for weeks. If you don't have to sell right now, I'd recommend holding onto it until better times.

Seems like items under $50 are still selling fairly well - people are still going for a bargain.

Yes, the more inexpensive items disappear pretty quickly. I would wait a month or so, until people have time to get cash flowing back in instead of just flowing out.

I guess I'm confused - why wait to post if you know you're definitely going to sell something?

Post now, you can always bump as necessary.

Why, I guess people start to ignore threads that have been up there forever. I mean I guess there is always new blood on bhuz, but threads with a thousand bumps sort of get old, ya know?

Heh. Could always delete and repost I guess after a certain number of bumps.

I noticed a few "last bump before ebay" posts that returned...

Plus there could be a size factor - some posts are around because no one can fit into the pretty costumes...I know I'm too big for most of the stuff that goes up there (probably better for my wallet though heh) but I look anyway!

That's what I feel like happens-I had several items, brand new Isis wings, cool paillette trims and a brand new pharoanix that are still sitting. Very frustrating indeed!!!!!!

Sadly, I don't. I have a high quality Turkish bedlah, but girl, you so Egyptian! I also have a dress, but I think it would be too short for you because it's a hare short on me. The other stuff is from a trés petite friend of mine.

I've got a costume I'll be putting up on the swap meet probably at the end of this week. I'm going to price it to move, because I'm getting the new costume itchies but I can't buy anything else unless I sell something I currently have.

Some Bhuzzers might have holiday gift cash to spend!

I posted several items (costume I made, skirts, jewelry) the weekend before Christmas and sold almost everything within 24 hours. I guess it was a combination of affordable asking prices, items people were looking for, and adaptable sizes (skirts). Take great pics, provide as many details as you can, and put it out there.

..l;,I've been trying to sell my "harem pants" set for a loooong while now. Posted it last year and since I've got my eye on a flying skirt, I need to sell something out of my closet. It was worth a try though, even if it STILL hasn't gotten any replies. (maybe it's not the economy in my case haha)

I'm completely broke ..c:: and I still have my things for sale (black turkish dress, pretty sarong and top, veils, skirts and much more...)...

Swap meet is very slow-I have 2 GORGEOUS Bellas on there now and have been for a while- a year or so ago these wouldnt have lasted long :( Id like my babys to find new homes though without having to reduce the price much :( Hopefully things will pick up soon!

I think it was pretty slow after June/July. I sold tons of stuff, but after then it got slow. And I know that and I looked at buying things with a similarly jaundiced eye - if it wasn't dirt cheap, forget it. I pretty much picked a different hobby to support last year!

But as we all recover from the economic bashing, it'll pick up again.

I've recently sold a like new Pharaonics for $550 and several lower price items even though other things were moving slow. I really think it depends on the size, what it is, and who is currently looking to add to their wardrobe. I would list it...and bump it up a few times and if no interest then wait a few weeks before bumping it up again. I always check the listing even if they've been here for awhile unless I know they're not my size. No sense my checking the DD...I could put both boobies in one side and still have room for more LOL
I say go ahead and list. You can't sell it if no one knows what you have!!!!

I'd be buying something new and expensive, but I've gotta pay for books this semester, and I just bought two new costumes in November... still recovering from that one! The SWAP will definitely be picking up this summer when I get a pay increase from my regular job! Watch out gals!
