Question Where to get dressmaker's dummy

I have been sewing costumes and DIY for years and finally realized that a dressmaker's dummy would make my life so much easier! I was going to ask for one for Christmas, but have never used one and have no judging criteria.
    Any advice?

I have one but never use it, because it's not a good fit. The shoulders are to wide and the underbust's smallest measurement is still to big for me.
If you're measurements fall outside the ''standard'' range, really think this through because most of them are quite expensive.

I'm going to follow this: Clone Yourself A Fitting Assistant - Threads tutorial, so I'll have a real body double.
    It's also a whole lot cheaper ..g.:.

i made a duck tape dummy with the help of my hubby, and it turned out great. i stuffed it with the mountain of plastic grocery bags i had in my kitchen, and i wore an old t-shirt. the total cost was around $5 for the tape, everything else was free! i thinks its worth a shot, if it doesn't work you can always invest in something more expensive.

I love my Uniquely You dressform. It's the only reasonably priced form I found that would be adjustable for my long torso. You buy a form and a cover. You fit the cover to your shape, then squeeze the form into it. Since the core is foam, it is very pin-able.

Can you explain this in further detail? Where does the t-shirt come in to play? lol

***And then I read Kiyaana's post. Nevermind! That's so clever.

lol its pretty easy! i would make sure you read the instructions with your taping partner so s/he understands what the heck they're doing! also, taping the form back up was kinda difficult, i recommend stuffing and taping at the same time, so you can really seal up the seam well and you don't deform your form. hope that made sense!

yes, a patient helper is required, and one that you don't mind touching your boobs! do you have someone that would want to make a form too? you could be eachother's patient helpers.
