Thread: Ordering directly from Hanan?

I found a Hanan on a random Web site that I really want. It is similar to some other styles going around right now, but it doesn't have that wrap thing that Hanan likes to put on her dresses. And I love the colors and the design!

Anyway, would you recommend ordering directly from her? Or would you rather do it through a vendor? Will she duplicate one of her existing designs? Tell me what I need to know.

I've been in contact with her before, and although I ended up not placing my order, her communicatio was excellent, her English was good she seemed really nice and like she'd be nice to work with. I'd still like to place an order with her at some point.

She is definately worth working with directly...I had an awful experience going through a vendor and after almost a YEAR of frustration, sought her out and got my costume within 3 months. Just be sure to be very clear about colors and sizes and BE SURE TO USE A PHOTO if possible :) You will also save money working with her directly. so. worth. it.

Actually, it's her husband that you'll probably be communicating with. His English is much better than hers.

I second ordering from her directly. And if she won't duplicate a previous design exactly, she'll come darn close to it.

I'm in the process of ordering a bra/belt from her, but I haven't finished the transaction, so I can't tell you if it's only wire transfers.

Question: Does Hanan use numbered cups like Pharaonics?

I don't think she uses numbered cups - I had given her my American bra size, and she got close to it - a little large, but that seems normal anyway. You may want to measure a bra that you already have (and that fits idealy) and send her the dimensions.

Hopefully you will have more luck getting your order than I have! I placed an order to collect when I got to Cairo, but it wasn't ready when I got there, athough I was told it would be (and I sent an email a week or so before I arrived as a reminder). I was told that it would be sent via post, so I emailed about it again when I got back, to say I definitely still wanted the costume and to ask how much longer they needed to make it. It's been more than two weeks and I haven't had a response to my email. I'm kinda bummed as th initial stages of the order went well, I really wanted the costume, and the price was great. However, I am just resigned to giving up on it for a while and trying to place the order again later :(. Let me know how your order goes!

try contacting Zenubia here on bhuz. she helps place orders with designers in Cairo and I believe you can use paypal rather than wire transfer ( i always feel safer doing paypal )

I sent her an e-mail to place the order this afternoon. This is what I gave her. I hope she doesn't think I am a freak! (BTW, centimeters is the right measurement, right?)

Did you get a reply yet? Hanan got back to me last week, saying that she had been away and that she was going away again, but she could start it for me at the beginning of May when she gets back.

I did not get a reply... Maybe I should follow up. Beginning of May! And then it will take how long? Three months?

She didn't give me a timeframe, but I'd expect a couple of months...it is all a bit vague, as she mentioned being busy with Nile Group and Ahlan Wa Salan as well as her travelling. I am in no desperate need for another costume (although I *want* this one, and she has quoted a really good price) so I am cool to wait, even if I don't get it until Autumn! I hope it does get made, but I wouldn't be completely shocked if it doesn't...

Perhaps I should have just ordered it in February when I first inquired about it. Oh well.

I'm not sure that would have helped - I ordered mine in Jan/Feb to collect in person in March, but it wasn't ready! I think Hanan is just super busy at the moment.

Hi there. I am bumping this thread because I am curious about the status of my costume. I sent an order on April 15th and she said she would start working on it after the 5th of May. How long should I wait before following up?

Hmmm...maybe check for status at 6 or 8 weeks. That seems reasonable to me.
