    Isis wing sticks

I have a beautiful pair of (heavy!) dark blue taffeta (I think) isis wings. I have rather long arms, I'm about 5'10. My problem is the sticks are too long, I feel like I should be holding them near the ends, but instead I'm holding them with about six inches sticking back past my hand closer to my body. Those few inches are annoying and I feel like they disrupt the flow of the wings when I move. They also keep poking into my lower arm and getting caught.

Where are the sticks on your wings? Do you hold them at the ends or more in the middle? Is it my technique and not the wings?

I'm debating about taking the sticks our and cutting them to suit my needs BUT I'm not sure if the wings are really 'my thing' and I'm concerned about resale value if I shorten the sticks. Help?

I've heard a few differing opinions on this one, so I'll be interested to hear what folks have to say, but.........

My understanding is that the most fluid way to handle them is to ensure the end of the stick lands right about in the middle-to-lower part of your palm; where you still have control, but so that it's not bonking into your arm, elbow, etc.

Don't worry about cutting them, most people would have to resize the sticks anyway; you can get wood ones cut to fit at any hardware store, or clear plastic ones cut to fit at a Tap Plastics, really inexpensive.

Good Luck with your test flight ..g.:

    What Salena said.

Use clear plastic Venetian blind wands for sticks.

If you're concerned about resale, get the replacement sticks now and remove the originals. That way, you can experiment with different sticks/lengths until you find what works for you without having to damage or alter the ones that came with the wings.
