Pre & Post pregnancy costumes--Questions!!
Okay, so I have a closet of costumes, and my "assumption" is that I'll be able to wear them again after my pregnancy ends...well, most of them, anyway. Most are either bra/belt or were a tad large in the hips/bra to begin with...
Is that a pretty safe assumption, ya think? I don't want to be stupid and keep them if they will never fit, but I really think that they'll fit under my belly for most of my pregnancy, and I hope I'm able to loose back to something somewhere close to my current shape after the baby is born (obviously, it will take time, but that is okay).
I'd like to hear others' experiences. There are a couple of costumes I think I'll probably end up selling because they will be too small afterward if my hips expand, but they were made for me...most of the time costumes are too big & I've added tons of elastic or taken them up to fit.

Re: Pre & Post pregnancy costumes--Questions!!
I have three kids and my hips always went back. i gained 25 lbs with each so it took me 2 weeks to 2 months to lose the weight and have my shape back. the more weight you gain the longer it will take. my boobs got bigger so i added frabric then when i stoped nursing they went back to the normal size and i removed the fabric. and you can always change your eyes and hooks around. and add padding or remove padding. just keep dancing you weight will come off. and nurse it burns 500-1000 calories a day i nursed and lost the weight really fast. I loved nursing cause i could eat alot of food and not gain weight.

Re: Pre & Post pregnancy costumes--Questions!!
I taught and took class (bellydance) three days before my son was born. and started dancing again 1 month after(csection with my third son) The dr.s made me wait atleast two weeks before dancing. last year at bellydancer of the universe my boys were 5,8,and 1.I performed one week before my son was born. i belive bellydance is so good for those muscles. people say not to shimmy, or do stomach rolls i say listen to your body. i felt it helped me to keep dancing and keeping those mucles working although the last two months were harder to dance.

Re: Pre & Post pregnancy costumes--Questions!!
It depends on so many factors that, really, no one can say for sure. I cannot wear any of my pre-preggers costumes. My body just is not the same. I had gestational diabetes and so was on a super strict diet for most of my pregnancy--so I really didn't gain anything other than baby while I was pregnant. I pumped for about a month (was unable to breast feed because baby spend the first week in the ICU), then had to stop due to other issues. After that is when I gained weight. No sleep, lots of stress and zero time to work out = weight gain. Aside from that, I'm just a different shape now than I was then--even clothes that still technically fit me look different. Sometimes it's a good different, sometimes not so much.
So it's possible you'll be able to wear everything as soon as you get home from the hospital...or not. Everyone is different. I'd say hang on to your cossies for now and see how you feel after the baby arrives and you've both had time to settle into your new world!

You'll most likely fit back into them, though it could take up to a year. By then your tastes may have changed ,r:;
The biggest thing is to just be patient. Right after you have the baby you're still going to look pregnant. It will be like that for a little while; you'll have a doughy, weird-looking, strange-feeling belly. And I could always feel my organs shifting whenever I laid down. But rest assured it does get better, even if it never looks quite like it did before children. I'm now 8 wks pp and I've still got 20lbs to lose (I gained 65).
And like Nadirah said, if you nurse you're bras may need some extra fabric. Any headbands that come with your costume are great for adding to the tops of bras.
