Which Sahar (or two) would you pick out of these?
Here are the options:
1. Midnight blue (she has quoted me less than the ebay price, and offered to add bling)
BELLYDANCE COSTUME,SAHAR OKASHA, EGYPT ,BELLY DANCE - eBay Other Women's Dancewear, Women's Dancewear, Dancewear, Fashion. (end time 04-Feb-10 15:53:39 AEDST)
2. Red

3. or a black Sahar basic with floating bra (couldn't find a pic online, but similar to the one below, just in black, with probably no adornments or modesty panel in the skirt)

I love the skirt on the basic but I just don't like the illusion on the bra. As an audience member, I'd be very afraid for a dancer's boobies in one of those bras. They just don't look "right". However, that being said, one can always add something like a broach or make a little applique to put in the middle. You certainly can't argue with the price compared to the blue..
However that blue is amazing.

Personally, I like the Midnight Blue because of the dangly bits. I like my costumes to have a bit of movement.

I like #2 Red the best.
On #1, the mesh sides could be problematic. .w.:

Love the first one .... how much is she offering it for (in US dollars) .....? Shahrzad (Bellydancestore) has a good variety and range of prices.

I can't wait for the floating cups to go out of style. I just don't like 'em. The blue is a beautiful color, but it's more expensive, and you do have the mesh sides to contend with. (I'm of the philosophy that you shouldn't give your audience an excuse to think about potential costume malfunctions while you're dancing.) If you're really in love with the idea of the dangling strings of beads from the blue, it wouldn't be that hard to add them to #2. (Designer sacrilege, maybe, but not difficult to find red and silver beads.)

There must be something wrong with the belldancestore.com website. It keeps running in a loop on the status line.

I'm right behind you on this. They just look really awkward from a design/construction standpoint. It's like the eye expects to see a complete line, and instead, sees a gap. It's visually jarring, IMO.
I'd personally hold off on getting anything with floating cups or clear straps because those costumes already seem to be on their way out of style. Something a smidge more traditional like #1 will have a higher resale value and be appropriate for more venues.
But ultimately, it's about what suits the individual! So what do I know?

I could not see pics of you on your profile, so I can't give my suggestion on what would look better on you colour-wise... But I stand by number 2 - you can rarely go wrong with red!
