Hair Curling Advice
Hello Everyone!
I am hoping to get a bit of advice about getting my hair to hold a curl, I searched and found one thread about it previously but hope that perhaps someone can help me out.
I have extremely thick, mostly straight, medium coarse hair. I just got about 4" chopped off of it, so it's at about waist length and has some long layers.
When I curl my hair I normally use rag curlers or an iron, as I can't ever get rollers to work with as much hair as I have. Iron curls (I use the method on Azhia's DVD) stay in for all of 10 minutes, even with hair spray.
What can I do to get them to stay longer?

Re: Hair Curling Advice
Wet curls. After showering, make yourself a product cocktail that consists of a hard-hold gel, mousse, and a gel-like wax product. Run through hair. Then section, hand-roll, and clip at the base. Let hair dry naturally and/or quicken drying time with a low-setting on your hairdryer. I have horse tail hair. Straight as a board. When I do wet styling it lasts DAYS until I shower again. Lots of volume, too.
I also use Bumble and Bumble's "B-Curly" on women who swore their hair would never hold a curl and it's held for up to 24 hours. Spritz on each strand of dry hair, the entire length of the strand, prior to curling with the iron (then do the pincurl thing with each strand and let it set, per the DVD).

Re: Hair Curling Advice
I have really fine, really straight, long hair that doesn't like to curl either!
I've just started using a crimping iron and it actually holds all day without any hair spray. I just put in some mousse (I use aussie's aussome moose) while my hair is wet, blow dry it straight, and then crimp it. It takes 20 min to crimp all of my hair, but it stays and adds volume and looks really fun!
