Thread: L Rose beledi dress or others

I need to purchase a beledi dress (actually for saidi). Should I order a custome one from L Rose? I don't think I want velvet because I think it looks too heavy to wear year round. What fabric do you have it in that you like??
Or should I go with the the Hanan dress from The Bellydance store

the hanan's are pretty nice, had my hands on them the other day, they're light but not cheap looking or transparent, pretty good quality despite the lightness of the fabric, great appliques.....l.rose ALWAYS has great stuff, so either would be a good investment

I love my L.Rose beledi dress! I'll probably sell it because I never, ever need to use it ,r:; But I couldn't be happier with the way it fits.

L.Rose has the greatest customer service and their stuff is so beautifully made. Give her your measurements and it will fit like a glove. So comfy, and machine washable, too! And I like how you get to choose from all sorts of options, like necklines, sleeve length/style, fabric color. Love, love, love!

Love L. Rose. Gotta check out the website so I can enjoy some drool time.

I agree totally on L Rose items. Gonna get me another pair of bellbottoms, soon as I lose some weight. Getting them in red velvet this time. I'll be a site to behold.

L. Rose in the white wavy stretch lace..............totally cute, and great for summer!

I have several L Rose skirts (about 10) and some of their tops, pants & veils so I know they have great quality.
I never thought of using the wavy lace for a dress. How sheer is it?
How would a dress look in one of the metalskin fabrics?

Oh, sorry, yeah, it's sheer, patterned fabric; so I ordered a solid white straight skirt to go under it, works perfectly. Wear a corresponding white bra underneath.
Then you can coordinate the colors of your hipwrap or scarf with your headband, jewelry, etc.

layering a different color underneath looks good too. Lots of options

Unfortunately, it's one of the few costumes of which I have not one picture, but I think Ahava may have posted and sold hers here before (I'll look for the post), it's the same one; 3/4 sleeves, pinched "v" neck at the top, and has slits on both sides up to the knee.
And yep, that style would be great in the metalskin, too!

I'm bumping this thread because I was hoping people could post a picture of their L. Rose Beledi dresses. I want to order one, but I can't decide on fabric. Does anyone have one of these in nylon lycra or glitter velvet??? Please post photos!

I like the L Rose velvet because it will not show sweat. Lycra will show sweat marks. The metal skin I think is even warmer. I have not had a Hanan beledi dress so I can't compare or comment on it. I also made my own out of a shiny, wet looking, lycra type material that was pretty easy and I only had to wear it for a short performance.

I've long since sold it, but this is an L. Rose beladi dress in silver holographic lycra. I dubbed it the Disco Ball Beladi Dress.

I have a gold holographic beledi dress with a trumpet skirt, which I've been wearing under my khaleegy thobe. It's awesome! And it was such a pleasure to deal with the L. Rose folks.

I ended up ordering the red hologram metal skin. I am out of town right now but when I get home I'll post a picture. It turned out really pretty and I've had many compliments on it.

Good point about the sweat, Mahira. Do the metal skin ones show sweat?

Exactly what I do with my gold holographic LRose. My thobe is black silk with gold sequins and gold wire embroidery so the gold dress is perfect for it.

And I love the lack of zipper. I had to ask Kami Liddle to zip my old underdress at a BDSS show and decided then that I needed to be self-sufficient. (She was very sweet about it, but...)
