when your skirt/veil sets love to cling on to you...
that's right, i'm talking about the nasty old static chiffon that clings on to EVERYTHING! i bought 2 new chiffon skirts and a veil that i plan on wearing pretty soon and they seem to like eachother very very much :( how can you get rid of the static electricity? special spray?
thanks in advance

Static Guard works but for a bargain use any aerosol hair spray. I keep an inexpensive can in my costume closet, I add it to my gig bag during the winter months. I hold the can at least a foot from the fabric. I also use aerosol hair spray for static in my everyday clothes.

Static guard, but I don't like the smell, so I also spritz perfume along with. I do that anyway to my veils & skirts so when I swish em the tantalizing aroma of Shalimar floats along.
Light aerosol hair spray.
Pack dryer sheets w storage.

In a pinch, you can rub a dryer sheet on the fabric to cut down on static. I think it's more practical to carry a dryer sheet in a baggie around than a can of Static Guard, and you don't have to worry about making others choke from the spray. For a poly chiffon, you could also try swishing it around in a solution of water and a bit of liquid fabric softener, like it was going through a rinse cycle.

I think that a light spray of water from a fine mist nozzle will work also. It's worth a try. Static cling happens when there is no moisture in the air.

I've always used dryer sheets. Rub a sheet or two on the underside of the skirt (maybe for each layer if two layer) and on the outside of your leggings/nylons/harem pants if you're wearing them. It works really well.

I use a mix of fabric softener in a smell I like diluted with water in a frebreeze spray bottle.
Smells great AND gets rid of static!
