Show me your Raq N' Roll Costumes
I'm thinking about making a punk/heavy metal inspired costume. Will you wonderful bhuzzers show me yours?

Re: Show me your Raq N' Roll Costumes
Hello, dahhling! Glad to see there are some more heavy metal-loving belly dancers out there! Here is a costume I made a few years ago that might help get those creative juices flowing:

I created the design on the bra with metal studs and jewelery chains (VERY metal!) I'm currently working on four different belly dance costumes, one for each of the four members of KISS! (I'm making some headway on Paul Stanley....I'd be happy to send you some pics as they come along, if you'd like!)
I'd highly recommend using jewelery chains instead of bead loops, studs instead of sequins, etc. You can also find a variety of vinyl/leather-looking or plaid bras online that would be great to embellish. Just be creative! I know you'll come up with something rockin'!
Best of luck! And please keep us updated!

Re: Show me your Raq N' Roll Costumes
Oh...thank you for sharing. I had thought about using chains, as well as raiding the hardware store for decorations (and some of my friends' worn out accessories).
I love what I'm seeing so far.

Bahaia's skull costume is da bomb.
It's in her gallery, about halfway down, under 'Michael Baxter"

I co-choreographed a number to Kashmir from Jimmi Page and Robert Plant's "No Quarter" album. Here are the costumes we made:

This is one I have always thought of as my 'biker chick' costume ..l;, It's heat set crystals on velvet.

Kaeshi wore a black leather costume in "Bellydance Divas" (I think that was the one) that was just a killer! I thought it was really edgy.

Do large metal safety pins with loops of chain count? If so, I have a Sahar almost identical to this, except I got it from Dahlal (scroll down to the LAST photo -- you can see the heavy metal, lol!)

It's not quite a bedla, but I've performed to Marilyn Manson's cover of "Personal Jesus" in the outfit here:

Clarification on my costume - it's a Mamdouh Morise, who is not the same designer as Mamdoh from Oriental Moon.

Re: Show me your Raq N' Roll Costumes
Once of my dance partners has a costume we've nick-named the rock 'n roll costume. It was given to her by another dancer who made it by pimping a cheap beaded dance bra and leather belt. I don't have good photos, this one you can kind of see the leather belt with the red beads and appliques:

While maybe not a very rock and roll shot, here's a close up of the bra:
