I would only publicly call someone out for poor quality if they refused to work with me to resolve the problem.

Yeah, on second thought, I'm gonna delete that first post. I'll try to address the issues directly and see what happens from there.

I don't think Lisa meant to call anyone out publicly... I think she was looking for honest feedback from her friends... that said, I agree that the delete was a good move...

That definitely wasn't my intention. Nor am I the first person on this forum who has posted about a negative experience custom ordering a costume.

But I'll definitely report back if, for whatever reason, I run into any trouble resolving this problem. Hopefully I can either get a refund or, worst case scenario, find a good seamstress who can help with some of the sartorial issues...

It is a beautiful costume - just not exactly what I had in mind.

I didn't think it was your intention, and I understood why you asked, but I'm glad you deleted it. For now. Bellydance is a really small community, and it would be so easy to inadvertently harm a vendor beyond repair.

Best case scenario -- she hired a brand new seamstress who isn't working out, and needs to know about the problems in order to fix them. She'll offer a full refund or other reparations that will make you happy (and apologize, because quality control of merchandise that goes out under her name is her responsibility!)

I know other Bhuzzers have reported GREAT experiences with this designer, and haven't seen reports of problems before, so hopefully that's the case.

If not, once you've contacted her I don't think there's ANYTHING wrong with sharing info here.

Yes, this was kind of my afterthought after clicking "send." I know several others who have had wonderful experiences with this designer, which is why I didn't hesitate to make my initial purchase. I'm sure this is not the problem across the board, otherwise we would have probably started seeing red flags much sooner. Like you said, it was probably just some sort of unfortunate fluke...

And actually, I might have the situation under control. I was just rifling through my purse and stumbled across a business card for a really nice Syrian tailor who set up a shop in our local mall. She designs and alters belly dance costumes, and has several beautiful bedlah hanging in the window! I can't believe I forgot about her, but I'm gonna take my costume over to her shop tomorrow and see if she can help me with some of the minor structural issues.

My boyfriend also reminded me that one of his dancer-friends in Springfield works with a seamstress who designs and alters showgirl and drag queen costumes. Gonna get her contact info, too.

Getting my costume fixed up would actually be an ideal situation, because the colors and sparkles are magnificent and it's too pretty to send back. So keep your fingers crossed for me

Yes, the periwinkle and bubblegum pink. I really love the colors and bling.
