    Question about European-US bra sizes

Hey! I don't really know where to post this but I thought the 'costuming' page would be fine.

A couple of weeks ago, I heard on a show on television that European bra sizes are different from US bra sizes.
For example : if you have US A than you have EU B, if you have US B than you have EU C, ...

Does anybody know something about this?
Pretty important seeing as I am having a costume custom tailored in the US... (and only just realized this!)...

Re: Question about European-US bra sizes

    Thanks a lot!
I'm kind of a border case between sizes, but it seems I gave the right size to the designer (compared my bra size with the converted size)!
Didn't know it was for real though, I always see all those costumes being swapped and sold, and it is never mentioned if it is a EU or US size bra...

In my experience, all you need to do is convert the band size - US 36 = EU 80, US 34 = EU 75 etc. After that conversion, the cup size remains the same: US 36C = EU 80C. But, keep in mind that cup size is relative to band size, i.e., a 32C cup is smaller than a 36C is smaller than a 40C.

I find this to be true as well. In US sizes, I wear a 34B. In European sizes (at least in Germany), I wear a 75B. At least with regular bras :-)

mmm, I wear a 90E (French sizing), and according to the converter that is a 75 E (European) and 34 D US, 34 DD UK
    Complicated!! ..g.:
I am getting the bra in the mail to see if it fits prior to it being decorated, so I'll see if it fits then ..l;,

Now that I read all this, I realize that my "B" does feel a bit snug in EU sizes, but I put it down to the couple of kilos I've gained. I bet the size you ordered will fit just fine. Good luck!

Zoe, watch out that there are different sizes within europe too. if i remember correctly, belgian sizes are a bit special, the sizing system here is different to some other european countries.
    yeah, it's a bit of a pain...

Yes, I know, the lady in the shop where I usually buy my bras explained everything
I always use the French size.
