Chocolate brown and ????
I've scored on some truly lovely chocolate brown stretch velvet - 6 metres of it. There's obviously a trumpet skirt in there, and gauntlets, as well as a bra, belt and choli.
Here's where I need help. Ever since seeing Ozma's Peacock, that's all I can think of! What else works with brown? Any pictures would be very greatly appreciated!

Re: Chocolate brown and ????
I LOVE turquoise or a light limey-olive and brown together. Pink and brown works well also.

Re: Chocolate brown and ????
I love the contrast of chocolate brown with light colours - pink, turquoise, lilac, mint. Brown and gold look great together. Honestly I think brown can look great with almost anything.

Re: Chocolate brown and ????
Brown is sometimes classified as a neutral, so under the right circumstances, almost every color can be paired with it. Brown with turquoise or light blue is a very common pairing. Brown with medium or dark greens gives off a natural, lush, rustic feeling. Brown with tan, coral, peach, cream, etc. has more of a Southwestern vibe to Americans, but again, those are very environmental colors. Brown with mint green makes me think of candy, and brown with pink reminds me of Neapolitan ice cream, but those aren't entirely bad associations. Depending on the undertone, brown works with gold or copper (warmer) or silver (cooler) metallics. Brown is also a color that can support multiple tones of metal, and it provides an interesting base if you've ever fancied the idea of stepping away from glass beads to work with wood or shell/pearl embellishments.
You don't see a lot of brown and black because it doesn't have a lot of contrast, but if you wanted to go funky, that could be interesting paired with an animal print (or fur, if you really wanted to push the envelope). I should think brown with navy or purple would be difficult to pull off, but with a clever design, I'm sure it's possible. Brown with the right shade of dark red might also be interesting. Because of the earthiness of brown, I would tend to shy away from pairing it with high-contrast brights/neons, holographic sequins, etc., but that's just my personal preference.

The beautiful thing about brown is that it's a neutral color and you can use just about anything to accent it!

Re: Chocolate brown and ????
When I get home, I'll take some pics of the brown with swatches of the other fabrics I have at home... Off the top of my head, I have liquid metal pink, liquid metal red, taupe, leopard, orange, acid/lime green.... I just finished an aqua bra and belt for myself, so I don't know that I want to go that route...
I think I have too many choices... but I'll deny that if anyone tries to tell my husband!

Re: Chocolate brown and ????
mint goes well with it! mint and chocolate are popular color combos in the wedding world right now. umm...i also really like gold and brown, orange and brown, brown and white, brown/white/vibrant blue (like the colors of a blue footed boobie!!). pretty much what everyone else said ;)

I'll echo colors above: teal, lime, mint, coral (even a redder coral works), copper/bronze, and champagne. I keep seeing the "brown and color" combination all over--it's definitely hot right now.

Re: Chocolate brown and ????
Dark flamenco pink and red like my bella:

I took this with a flash... the skirt is really a nice chocolate brown and the pink isn't that obnoxious... it's a fun color combo and not as common as brown and turquoise... which also gets my vote!

Re: Chocolate brown and ????
the teal i think got done to death by mainstream fashion, although it's GORGEOUS it's a little like a song that got overplayed on the radio, it needs to be put away until people have a chance to listen to some other things for a little while, then it can go back into the mix.
i love pink, orange is also great but i tend to think of it as something almost exclusively for the fall, red looks good but depending on the shade of brown it wouldn't be as dramatic as orange or pink or teal. ivory screams classy.
good luck! post pictures! ^_^

Re: Chocolate brown and ????
The brown's been sidelined for a bit while I do a rush piece or two. As soon as I'm finished with the pieces currently under the needle, I'll start working on the base pieces... at least I won't have to decide on embellishments until the bases are complete.
I do love chocolate and teal, but I just did an aqua/turquoise bra and belt for myself with silver and crystal accents... I'm a bit over that color right now.
I might end up falling back on champagne, copper, amber or gold... but that almost feels like settling for less....
