    Eye Make-up Help

I have a question about Sadie's eye make-up in the video below....I absolutely love it. It's so dark and pretty and could go with any color costume. I really like how the dark make-up doesn't make her eyes look small (I have medium sized eyes, but feel like dark cololrs make them look smaller). I am interested in the technique and colors she used in this.
See if you can watch this and let me know what you think. Thanks so much!

There is a close-up of her looking down at 1:20.

    Re: Eye Make-up Help

If you look the base colour of the makeup is extremely light, possibly even white. The only actually dark part is in the crease.

Check out tutorials on smokey eyes and especially classic 60s big eyed models. Even though Twiggy and Edie Sedgewick wore a LOT of dark makeup on some areas of their lids they managed to make their eyes look really big via contrast and the careful application of white.

Don't close your eyeliner in the corners, don't apply liner to the waterline (or if you do, use white), wing it up as far as you dare in the outer corners, lashes lashes and more lashes! Consider not using a dark liner at all on the lower lid and possibly even using white. Also definitely use a highlight colour on the area just near your tearduct.

There are TONNES of youtube tutorials on making eyes appear larger and the tricks work just as well for those with already "open" eyes as those with smaller eyes.

Actually I lie: even though there are a lot of *aspects* to a smokey eye that will help, a much better look to focus on is classic old Hollywood pinup eye makeup. The look is generally more subtle then the Sadie video, but the colour placement is a good place to start.
