Cool When NOT to costume - spin off

Spinning from the "Rehab" thread. I'm thinking of the times I should not have been costuming... due to fatigue, desperation, too much wine, etc...

    Feel free to chime in!

Ozma and the glue gun/costuming police might hurt you if....

    1. You start cutting fabric (or any other brain involving task like serger threading) at 2am.
    2. You start cutting after that last glass of wine.
    3. The design in your head for your next skirt is so simple, you don't even need to measure... honest!
    4. It's Wednesday after work and you NEED a new bedlah by Friday.

If you're sewing-impaired and taking on a drastic procedure.

OR, if you're looking to transform a size 12 costume into a 2, or vice versa .w.:

If the former, bring it to a capable seamstress. If the latter? sell, sell, sell!

Brings back memory: one time for troupe costuming, 2 days before a show, I was making the last pair of stretch capri pants to wear under modern saidi dresses... I sewn the two legs together (It was around 11h pm)!

Belt in lap, sewing on trim right thru to me. I mean to my pants or whatever, not to my skin..l;, tho I have sewn over my finger w sewing machine needle OWWW
Sewing sleeve on inside out used to be fairly common for me, until I banned myself from working on projects past, oh, say 1:00 am or so... "OK now it's 2 am MUST stop."
Tho, a troupe member once sewed a sleeve on upside down (a short pointy sleeve) & we liked it so much that we adopted that style!

Do not walk away from various containers of beads without putting the lids back on. The time it takes to get a coffee is MORE than enough time for the kitty to decide she wants to play in the sparkles.... I'm still finding beads under the couch, the chair, the baseboards...

If you are hand sewing sitting of the sofa, in front of the tv, try not to forget needles behind you: hubby can sit on them! ..c::

A classic, I've have done this several times!

Do not use the padded arm of the cloth sofa as a pin cushion.... even if it IS your side of the sofa!

I do use the couch as a pin cushion! Totally works until I realize that I can't remember exactly where I stuck it in and spend 15 minutes carefully running my hand over the entire surface of the couch.

My new hair cut also reminds me daily that I am not allowed to play with sissors after 1 am.

Never, ever, sew the black velvet belt you're making for your pal to your equally black velvet trousers while stitching cowries to the dashed thing...
Bad Avra... on the same subject, know exactly where your seam-ripper is so you don't spend the next ten minutes hopping around the living room trailing a heavy ATS belt around, howling all the while...

I've sewn costume pieces to my lap before too. I'm glad I'm not the only one, and it usually happens late at night/early in the morning when I'm too tired.

Do not start a project on Thanksgiving, because you will not be able to make it to the store to get more thread/elastic/needles if you run out because of the crazy Black Friday shoppers.

Read it, it's great advice - and so witty to boot! So it's not too late to teach an old dog new tricks?..l;, I'm gonna try this!

Anybody besides me ever sewn anything to the tablecloth?

Thought I'd never hear the end of that one from my mother!

Don't try to finish up a costume in the car on the way to a show! (True story with troupe mates in my back seat trying to do this)
Bumpy roads + needles + stress = almost 100% chance an important hook is going to pull out!
