Let me see your beading close-ups!
Of bead work that is. I need to refine my technique. Quite frankly, it's sloppy. I also need to get some design inspiration.
Please post close-up photos of beadwork. It can be either a costume you made or bought. Nothing is off limits!
I'll start!

These are beautiful! I'd love to learn how to bead but it seems way beyond my skills.

Tanya, I still can't get over the fact that you beaded over sequins. I don't know how your fingers took the torture!

Re: Let me see your close-ups!
I never in a million years would've known to rub the thread over a wax candle! Thanks for this!
I'm going to see if my bff & bd-sister Saayidah will post close-ups of the AWESOME hand-beaded bra she did-so proud of her! Background: About 3 years ago, I gave her an Egyptian red lycra skirt with cut-outs (covered in red mesh), a connected decorated waist strap and some pretty amazing elaborate beading (& patterns) w/iridescent silver sequins, seed beads, chunky rhinestones, and even bigger AB crystals I believe, *all over*. She went and beaded a bra that matches it almost identically!! :)

Re: Let me see your beading close-ups!
This picture isn't close up at this size, but you can click it and go to the larger view it is much closer:

(please ignore the ugly black stitching in the lining. I use contrasting thread so it's easier to see to rip out if I ever replace the lining.
Also, does anyone know if there is a name for the beading technique I used here that creates that rope-like look?

Re: Let me see your beading close-ups!
No, but I LOVE IT!
I've just been reading The Art of Bead Embroidery by Heidi Kummli and Sherry Serafini. It's bead embroidery from the standpoint of working on foundation material or Ultrasuede, so I thought I could pick up tips there. But their work is so intimidating!

Their uses of texture and color design make me feel like a kindergartner with a piece of yarn and a bit of macaroni.

Thanks Tigerb!
Those beaded globes/balls are PHENOMENAL!
I tried looking at beading books before I made my first heavily beaded costume, but they confused the heck out of me!

Re: Let me see your beading close-ups!
Oh MY Gosh! I sooo want to be able to do this! And I love the paisley squiggly ones. I took all those cheapo sequins off my red velvet costume and I need to cover up the marks they left on the velvet with a swirly, paisley pattern. I will use your pics to help me figure out how to do that!
Thank you!

Here are some photos I have taken this week for my 365 blog. The theme this week is costumes, so I am photographing all my costumes. LOL.
I will add more when I do the res

they are not all totally close up, but hopefully they will be useful.

Thanks! I had a lot of trouble with making straight lines in the beginning. I'm much better now luckily.
This is a really nice thread. I am glad most of the pictures are still accessible. Hope more people post.Immer Glimmer!
