Shira's 2 panel Circle skirt yardage?

I feel mentally challenged today...how much fabric do I need to make the 2 panel circle skirt. I usually buy 7.5 yards for the 3 panel but have never made the 2 panel....I have a chunk of unused stuff and want to know if I have enough before I make the pattern for it.....

I know i'm just missing it somewhere in this long article......argh!!!,m:: Please help me if you have a working brain...mine's on vacation.

I always figure 6 yards at 45" for 2 panels, 5 plus a smidgen at 60". But I have this one down because I have made a lot of skirts out of saris.

Thank you! I'm short on fabric for it then. When do you like the 2 panel circle skirt over the 3 panel? Do you use it mainly as an underskirt?

I'd actually think that you can get away with 5 yards @45 wide for 2 half circles, based on math, not sewing experience: For 1 half-circle, one needs 2x36+2x9=90 inches, for two half circles that makes 180 inches = 5 yards.

Try looking at this. Start at the bottom, where it shows the overlapping half circles. Now remember that your bias grain, which happens to be at the points that the skirt pieces will overlap, will STRETCH several inches... but you knew that...so you don't really need a perfect half circle to end up with a half circle after you hang it, if you catch my drift.

Also - if you end up a bit short, 'many' skirt fabrics won't show a patch laid in at the bottom. But it depends.
