need opinion on costume belt
i was just trying on one of my fave costumes and feel like the belt is a bit too small for me :-/ the wide part in the back seems like it looks too high up, but it's not a cupped butt kind of belt..but when i pull it down and barely close it up (it is small to begin with), i get a bit of a muffin top
here is one (silly action) pic i have where you can see the back...what do you ladies think?

if it is too small, off to the swapmeet it goes ..cr.:

Re: need opinion on costume belt
It doesn't look too high up to me...but it's a little hard to see from the picture. I actually *work* to get muffin top. Muffin top is good for shimmying!

Re: need opinion on costume belt
It's a beautiful belt!
It's a bit hard for me to tell, because of the action shot.
It looks a slightly high up to me, but I don't think it's too bad.
I don't think I would have noticed, if you hadn't pointed it out.
I'm curious; if you lay the belt flat, is it straight across at the waist?
Instead of having a curve to it?
(I hope you understand what I mean)
I think that's why it sits just a little high.
I wonder if more, longer black fringe in the back would help, make it appear lower in back?
I can see why you like it so much, I love the bead work, and the colors!!!!

Re: need opinion on costume belt
it has a slight curve to it but mostly straight so that might be why. and because of my big butt it will look short whether i put longer fringe or not lol but as long as its not that noticeable i think i will keep it :)

Here's to badonkadonks!
If you wanted to make it longer, you could add an extension-cum-medallion made of costume parts where the belt closes.
I personally think it looks great on you as it is!

Re: need opinion on costume belt
I drooled over this set when it was being sold on the swap forum!!! So if you sell, please add me to the line..g.:
So at the risk of sounding biased...it does look a little high...but I don't the GP would notice. And you are so gorgeous...nobody is looking at how your belt is sitting anyway!!!!
ETA: I'm not so sure I would have noticed either had it have not been pointed out.Last edited by bdlana; 02-13-2010 at 01:21 AM.

Re: need opinion on costume belt
It doesn't look that high to me. Mine usually sit a bit high on me tho cause I have also (I guess) been blessed in the rear area so I am always a little nervous about exposed crack.

Re: need opinion on costume belt
I'm with the others that think we wouldn't have noticed it unless you pointed it out. But, since you did, yes. I think it looks like it's riding a little high on your hips.
I think it matters more what your perception is. For me, once I have it in my head that there is an issue (whatever it is), I can't get it out of my head and find it's best to fix it or sell it.

Re: need opinion on costume belt
Where the belt is sitting, it makes your legs look very long. It might be higher than your other belts, but I don’t think it looks too high compared to other costumes I have seen.
If I have a belt that is adjusted too small, the top part gaps away from my back, and that looks bad. It looks like it is fitting well from the photo.

Re: need opinion on costume belt
thanks ladies! i will keep it after all cuz i loooove this costume and put a lot of work into it. and the skirt isn't actually short on me, it just looks that way cuz it's an action shot after i did a very fast turn :) hehe
u can see the skirt better here:

eta: and i'm dancing a gazillion times more and working out in my spare time as well so maybe i will lose an inch or two and the belt will 'fit' better. it didnt bother how it fit me months ago but for some reason now it does lolLast edited by ZanaRaqs; 02-13-2010 at 08:55 PM.

Re: need opinion on costume belt
I love that costume - what a memorable look!!! Personally, I don't think all belts have to be down low low low like alot of people are wearing them now, although that also looks cool. I think it looks fine, especially since it has Spanish Fusion vibe. But if it's really bothering you, you may want to take it to a seamstress to check out your options before selling it. Just my two cents.

Re: need opinion on costume belt
Hi, I think it depends how the belt sits. If it sits well where it is, it's fine. A belt that's meant to be lower, when it's placed higher up it doesn't have a good fit.
I think it ought to be lower by the way the fringe goes, but it looks good and very sexy on you, so you can wear it more often and rethink if you really want to sell it.

Re: need opinion on costume belt
It looks really nice, but I think it looks too high. I would add to the belt. If you don't have anything you could use (armbands, etc) I would just add a red or black extra strip on both sides of the belt, decorate it so it at least resembles the belt, and then it should fit. It shouldn't take too much work decorating it, because it looks like you just need a couple of inches.
But I do think it would look nicer if it were sitting lower.
It's beautiful, though!
