    belt width and flattering tummy/waist

I've been trying to figure this out: would a thinnish belt a la Paisley Passion or a thicker one like on Egyptian Beauty look better on someone kind of apple-shaped like myself, where I carry more weight in the stomach and chest? I'm also thinking that a belt with a contrasting fringe color may distract from a round tummy. What do you all think? Any suggestions? (I may take advantage of the Pharaonics sale at the last minute! eek!)

I have a fairly round tummy also. I haven't tried the Paisley Passion, although I've always liked it. I tend to like belts that are narrow/thin in front and bigger/wider in back.

can you show us a couple of pictures with different belts? (belts on you)
I always though that the V shape belt (or at least slightly V) would be slimming and flattering, but it's not true. The costumes that have a straight line across my hip are so much more flattering to me. I just made a new costume with a straight across belt and it makes such a big difference! I only have 2 V shaped belts, one is my first ever gold set (made in 2003) and the other is a turquoise Topkapi. Other than that I haven't made nor bought V sets.

But it depends on the person.

Sure - here are a couple of pics of me. I actually only have one with a belt, and in the picture I had it on a little tight and didn't realize until too late. The other could just give you an idea of my body type. I'm tired of ill-fitting costumes and want some that fit and flatter!!!

well, I don't see the problem :)) you look nice.
I wanted to say to maybe wear the skirt / belt lower, to give you a longer torso, but it looks like it's already at the right height. But also it seems in these pictures that the skirt / belt are slightly scooped. So not a V shape, but goes lower in the middle and higher on the sides. Try to the skirt on in a way that it is straight across in the front, and maybe even a bit lower, if you can. And see if it makes a difference.
You can try to add some large, chunky beads hanging from the bra in the middle, you can make it go all the way to your belly button, or shorter.
I wouldn't add contrasting color fringe, it is nicer if it matches.
    what do you think?

Thanks!!! I don't know! I think I am going to experiment and take pictures, I seem to get a much more accurate idea that way. I'm beginning to think about what you and Mahira said about things straight across - I think that's good advice - thanks!
