would Joharah ever equal Hannan?
I bought a costume on the swap meet last year that was labelled as a Hanan. I'm a big fan of Hanans so I paid the price, which was nearly the cost of a new Hanan. Supposedly it was brand new, so it seemed fine to me.
I got it and the tag in it says "Joharah". Ok, I thought - that's odd.
So it's a year later and now I want to sell it because it no longer fits me, so it suddenly seems important to figure out whether or not it's a Hanan or not.
I would rather not think the person selling it was trying to screw me, so is it possible that a Hanan would have been relabeled or sold as a Joharah? It would also be useful to know because I am now selling it in the swap meet and I think people would like to know. It has some Hanan styling aspects but the bra isn't like the other Hanans I have.

Also would be interesting to know what Joharahs go for new, so I'd know how to price my sale (I already took 100$ off of what I paid but I don't know if I got screwed or not).

Re: would Joharah ever equal Hannan?
there are some costumes i've seen that i've thought were hanans but were joharahs, even tho i would consider some of the styles a signature of hanan (the two very high slits to the thighs for instance).
joharah has different priced costumes though. i have a $100 troupe bedlah that is a beauty and then i have a $400 costume which is just as beautiful but definitely has more detail on it. it really all depends..

There is a difference between Hanan and Hanan style. If the tag says Joharah that is what it is. None of the Hanans I have bought from Dahlal or anywhere else have had any tags.... I have bought a few!!! Maybe the seller just meant Hanan style??? I bought a used Joharah on ebay last year for $120+ ship but It needed lots of repair work on the pants. They do seem to be very well made.

FWIW, I really do think Joharah and Hannan use the same craftspeople and materials for some items at some price points, and in the absence of a label, you wouldn't necessarily be able to tell the difference. I have had inexpensive Joharah dresses that were pretty but sparsely decorated and poorly finished -- those ended up splitting seams and shedding beads like crazy. On the other hand, I've have had a couple that were absolutely identical in styling (!), embellishments, quality, and price to Hanans. My best Joharah dress cost $400 purchased from her directly -- the same price I paid for a very similar Hannan -- and was well worth it. It held up very well and got tons of compliments. So it seems to vary a lot.

Also, just as a general note, it seems that Hannans usually don't have labels, but occasionally you do find one with a little crown logo for "Queen Hannan Mahmoud." ;)
