Thread: Belly Dance America Store in NYC?

I saw this in the NYC Belly Dance Meetup group. Anyone know anything about this store, or what they might be selling? The meetup says costumes, props, cds, etc but that's pretty vague as far as what qual. you'd find..

The store is run by Jehan Kamal and her husband Hanna. They are selling name brand costumes and all sorts of other goodies. Totally legit.

Yup! Legit and awesome. I've bought a costume, veil,and two pairs of zills from them.

I can't wait to go! NYC/NJ ladies Field trip!

Do they have a website? Does anyone know their hours?

Are the prices reasonable or it varies depending on what I buy. Before i make the trip down at some point so I know how much money to bring. -just curious

I went the other day, and spent about 2 hrs there! They have Hanans going for $400, nice Egyptian bra/belt sets for $200, Desert Swirls for $150, Emans for $700, Yasser-esque designs for $550, Pharoanics for around $600+. I also saw some Raqia Hassan and Madame Abla protege stuff, though I forget what the prices were. Skirts are generally $75, and they have everything from gypsy to chiffon to trumpet skirts. Overall, a really nice selection, and at reasonable prices to boot. Props were decent (sequined canes at $15, fan veils at $60 for a pair, swords at $55). I definitely would check it out; this is the only place in NYC where you can try on designer costumes before buying them.

Yes BellyDance America store is located in NYC 265 West 37th Street #206 (second floor) off 8th Avenue, they have every thing from designer costumes to special crystal belts to all your heart desires.. there prices are right and the best part is that you can try on the costume before you buy it. They are open every day from 11am to 7 pm but they are closed on Mondays. You can also make a special orders
