    skirt slippage

Lycra costumes always slip down on me. I've tried adding elastic, I've tried toupee tape and they slip down on me. I also wear bellycovers most of the time. The mesh kind. What else can I do?

I use really wide elastic - 2-3 inches wide and always make it tighter then I think I need it to be. Because it's so wide I find that instead of giving me muffin top it actually helps me to hide it and grips better. You can also try something along the lines of eyelash glue or latex glue on the elastic to help grip your skin...I have a friend who's a a theatre wardrobe gal and she uses a trick like this. It's similar to the stuff they put in strapless bras to stay.

I think the main issue is, I wear bellycovers. The mesh kind. So the lycra is slick on that. (sorry, guess I shouldv'e put that in my OP).

Big snaps in strategic places. Usually works.

snaps? you mean snaps on the outside of the bellycover and inside of the skirt?

Yep, that would be it. Usually snaps about the siz of a quarter. They encourage the skirts to stay in place. I learned this from anala who has several really yummy dresses with mesh that likes to move around. She has matching or complementary boy shorts and put big snaps on the boy shorts and the inside of the dress. Voila! No more slippage!

If thebellycover is mesh, could you add a couple of hooks to the inside of the skirt and hok it into the mesh of the bellycover? The same way the bellycover attaches to the bra.

You could try a different kind of belly cover, since you can find them in different fabrics. Maybe a wider fishnet or a stretch lace would give you more traction than the kind you've been using.

If you don't care about scruffing the belly cover up, another idea might be to put a few dots of hook-side Velcro on the inside of the waistband of the skirt and let that dig into the belly cover. I expect this would snag a little, but if you put it far enough down, it might not be visible. I'd try this as a last resort, though.

You can use a bellycover with snaps in various costumes. . . just use the same type of snap in all of them and they will all work together.

You could attach the skirt to boxers/panties (nude or the color that matches the costume). This usually helps to keep the skirt in place. Depending on the elastic of the shorts you might need to re-enforce it as well.

You can also try sewing some strips of puffy shelf liner inside the Lycra skirt. It provides a lot of of friction and keeps things from slipping. I buy mine at the dollar store...
