How often do you have your hair cut?
I just did my usual in-between hair cuts trimming. I hate going to the hair salon, for whatever reason I always feel uncomfortable having a stranger (even the same stranger) touch my head and hair. Is this weird?
In any case, I was wondering how often people have their hair trimmed? Do you usually do something dramatic or do you just trim an inch or two? Do you plan it out or do you just do whatever feels right at the moment? I find that I can follow my hair dressers line if I do this three to four months, but no later, after the last cut. It doesn't look as nice but it helps things stay somewhat neater than letting it grow out.
So...do you do every three months, every four months, once a year?
I have fairly long hair, dyed, a bit oily, wavy but not curly. Frizzy would be my first adjective...l;,

I am growing my hair out, I dye, but not with permanent dyes and its quite straight (and very fine). I get it trimmed about 3 times a year, and only have enough taken off to get rid of split ends which is usually about a half an inch or so (though my last cut had closer to 2 inches as I had the layers removed, but the next one will be just the ends again).

Re: How often do you have your hair cut?
I was having my hair trimmed and colored every 7-8 weeks. After I lost my job, I had give up my hairdresser, and he was the last to go.
Now I color it myself, and also trim it myself. I refuse to let a stranger color and trim my hair. I miss having my hair done, but just can't afford it right now.

Re: How often do you have your hair cut?
I trim my bangs myself every few weeks. As for the rest of my hair, I get it cut every 1/2-1 year or so. It's usually a drastic cut. Last year, my hair was growing really fast, so I decided to grow it out to donate after a year of no haircuts.
I guess I'm too lazy and cheap to go get my hair cut more often. I also can't commit to a length. I also am usually unhappy when I let someone else cut my bangs. I'm still upset about my last hair cut because she decided to chop off more of my hair to add to my bangs, but she really screwed up the line. It's going to take years for it to grow out again. Argh.

I get a drastic cut every three years or more. When ever I get my hair cut in the way I want, it just goes horribly wrong - so I get my hair trimmed twice a year to keep it nice.

I get about an inch cut off the ends, and the layers cleaned up, every 6-8 weeks or so. My hairdresser's total GQ material, so I ain't gonna lie - I don't mind when he touches my head .w.:..l;,

I get mine cut about every four or five months. I have long hair and I wear it up 99% of the time, so it takes a while for it to get ratty at the ends.

Now that my hair is long (a little below my bra strap), I only get it cut two or three times a year. I trim my own bangs every month.

Re: How often do you have your hair cut?
I have very long, very fine (static-y) hair. I get it cut about 2xs (maybe 3xs) a year. I usually just have my stylist get rid of dead ends... trims only about 2 or 3 inches. I also have a ton of layers put in, because my hair is so straight and flat and won't take to hairspray or curlers or even stay a tight ponytail, the layers really help make it look like I have volume. I don't dye my hair, because I seem to be allergic to most of the dyes and I don't feel like keeping up with the maintenance.

Re: How often do you have your hair cut?
I trimmed my own hair for over a year because I was (am) growing it out. Just trimming the ends was pretty easy, but I couldn't trim the layers myself.
In november I finally broke down and went to my previous hairdresser because the layers had bad splits and had grown out very unevenly. She was very careful about just dusting the split ends off and not taking off more than I wanted. She also didn't make any negative comments about me growing my hair out. I will probably have her trim it every 3-4 months.

I get it trimmed every three to four months. Split ends drive me crazy, but I'm growing my hair out. I also get my hair layered, because it's too heavy otherwise.

I've been growing my hair out for the past 2 years or so, I only have a trim done every 4-5 months. One of my private students used to be a hairdresser, and she knows how important hair is for a dancer, so we made an exchange deal ;)

Re: How often do you have your hair cut?
I curl my hair for performances, so it tends to get really nasty ends after just 2 months. I try to wait as long as I can to go back to the hair dresser, but 3 1/2 is the longest I can go without trimming the ends. That's why it seems that my hair hasn't been able to grow pass a certain length in years. The only way I mix things up is with bangs. In the winter I like to get short bands because it's easier to manage and in the summer I grow them out and get a few highlights in for beach hair effect.

Nowhere near often enough. I'd like to go every 3-4 months, but making and keeping appointments is such a pain in the balls that I end up doing it every 8-9 months.
I have long, fine, wavy hair, fairly normal at the roots and a little dry at the ends.

Re: How often do you have your hair cut?
I have been growing my hair too - it's bra strap length at the longest layer (yay!), but i'd like it a couple of inches longer. i get it cut every 3 months or so, likewise with color - i'm naturally mid/dark brown and get it colored deeper, darker brown.

Also growing my hair. I go every 3-4 months and she trims about 1/8-1/4 of an inch. I love my hair dresser.

Whenever my ends look like they are splitting. I do dye my hair about every 4months (to cover the grey).

Re: How often do you have your hair cut?
I have an inverted bob (long in the front and short in the back) and the back is "stacked," so I have to get mine trimmed every 6 to 8 weeks or I end up with a funny little duck tail on the back of my neck. When my hair was longer, I hated going for hair cuts because I could never decide how I wanted it to look or it never turned out right... Also, I hated that whole small talk thing that stylists always do and I never knew what to talk about...
But I found a stylist that I love (my troupe-mate's sister) and it made all the difference in the world.

Re: How often do you have your hair cut?
I think I may be the outlier here, but I have a pixie cut and very fine hair which I'm currently growing out to an EXTREMELY short bob (think Louise Brooks).
I get my hair cut every 4 weeks pretty much on the nose and right now while I have platinum blonde hair (my natural colour is dark brown) I also get my roots done every 4 weeks (not the same day though).
This from mid-thigh length hair that I cut myself only when it absolutely needed it.

Re: How often do you have your hair cut?
I go to Super Cuts every 4-6 weeks to get my bangs trimmed. I have not mastered the self-trim, so it's worth it! I am growing out the rest so I have not had it cut in ages. I "enhance" my "natural" color every 6-8 weeks and have to pay as my hair is now too long and I am always missing spots. I usually splurge on a fancy salon twice a year for a full overall color and highlights, but then use the Redkin owned salon at the local Walmart for touch ups. I will let them trim the ends if they say it is needed. More often than not they say that the ends are just fine.
