Need Help Re-Lining a Costume!
I need some tips on re lining a bedlah. The lining smells very strongly of cigarette smoke :(. I'm also a bit of a germaphobe and just wouldn't feel comfortable wearing it with the original used lining lol. I notice the stitches are invisible and I don't know what kind of stitch is used. I don't have a sewing machine so this will be fully hand sewn. Any tips or directions would be great ..g.:

I use a simple method. I remove the old lining and use it as a pattern to cut the new lining. A tight hem stitch works best for me. I do not know of a sewing machine that could be utilized to attach a lining to a beaded belt and bra. If the old lining is in good condition (other than the cigarette smoke odor), you could wash it and reuse it.

Thanks, I didn't even think of washing and reusing :), thats a possibility too! I think I might want to pick a cute pattern and Ill just cut it using the old one as a guide...

Using the old lining as a guide is pretty clever.
I usually just use old t-shirt fabric for lining, but I do it by hand. I make sure I tie a knot every few inches because I'm worried about thread breaking.

Agreed with Karnak. Old cotton tee shirt. I don't even worry about a pattern. Just turn under the edges along the way and use a running stitch.

Re: Need Help Re-Lining a Costume!
I use felt to add an additional lining over what's already in the bedlah. It's thicker than other fabrics and seems like it'd let less sweat get to the costume. I tack it (no really tight stitches, and don't even have to do too many; easy to cut out later) into a new costume, then when it's dirty remove and replace with new. I know you're having to take your used lining out though, so this is something you can maybe add after you get a new clean lining in.
