How to tame the wild sliding Tribal Pant?
I have noticed more than a few times, I have obtained pairs of tribal pants that for inexplicable reasons, seems to slide (or on occasion roll) down my hips as I dance. Needless to say, I'm frustrated. I've tried getting in different sizes - and they still tend to move. Took one in at the sides and it rolls now... GAH!
I don't want to have TV repairman butt whilst in a workshop -lol!..l;,
Two of these pairs have what I call a yoke front - set in waistband, and they are low rise. These do not have elastic at the waist, just the set in waistband. What I DO notice, is the pants material is lighter (not like Melodias, which are fairly thick and stretchy).
I'm toying with setting in elastic at the sides, but I get fearful I am going to ruin them. Any ideas from my costumer friends so these pretty pants can hold their shape - AND hold up?!

Re: How to tame the wild sliding Tribal Pant?
I have a pair of very badly made fauxlodias that are like that. I've always blamed the fabric, which is knit, but does not appear to actually contain ANY lycra or spandex.
Having said that, my thinnest bit is actually the saddlebag spot where the top of my leg hits my torso, so I think I am predisposed to have low-rising things slide down unless there's elastic. If I am wearing something at the widest visual point of my hip curve - which looks good on me because my torso is so short - my lack of bum and the presence of a narrower, leaner bit below seems to result in pant slide.

Maybe pin them to sturdy dance trunks underneath?

Have you tried anti-skid ribbon? It's sold at fabric shops (not sure of the name). It's clear 1/2 inch wide plastic ribbon that feels slightly tacky to the touch. It's sometimes sewed inside the neckline of gowns or thin shoulder straps to help them stay on by sticking to the skin (no glue involved, just a slightly tacky feeling plastic that skin's natural moisture will make it adhere to.)

Oooh also great ideas! Dance trunks and a grippy tape. Hmmm...
Zumarrad - I think I am built the same as you, but I have a booty - and it still doesn't grab. *sigh* These are fauxlodias as well, and simply are too thin a material to function well as they are.

My real Melodias do the same thing, I usually end up pinning them to a unitard or body stocking.,f::
