Re: What are you working on? March 2010
I was having a lot of trouble with it when I started too. The back of the belt is a small strip with the triangles and the bottom designs are seperate parts. The mesh is stretchy so I just stretched it into place. It's not very noticable in the pic (or from a small distance) but the triangles on the back of the belt are not aligned perfectly along the top.
I couldn't stretch the mesh for the front, it was to much of a curve. It's covered in 3 parts, 2 side parts that are run straight along the top and a middle part that is wegde shaped.
Good luck and post your progress!

Maybe You read my question at swapmeet, if I should sold my yellow Bella, because the skirt is to short....
Here are the pics with the to short skirt:

But I decide to change the skirt. Now it is nearly ready. I have only to make some pery on a corner....The pics made very quick...

Mmm, I like the fluffy yellow skirt with ruffles :) Nice change! (of course, I couldn't tell the other skirt was too short...)

Re: What are you working on? March 2010
Gonna make me some super full and fluffy pants today - last night I snagged 2 bright blue with silver lurex stripes tiered skirts from the store, and each skirt is going to become a leg of the pants! I am a little nervous about cutting the crotch seam, though, so wish me luck.... I am hoping to use these later in the summer when my troupe does a routine with swords and floor work!

I think I've got my student troupe convinced to do some beladi dresses and come up with a Khaleeji routine :D Hehehe, I just love it when my costuming obsession is contagious!

Re: What are you working on? March 2010
I have 2 more heart designs to create. This one is for Sabua. I still have fringe and beadwork and stones to attach but I am so into the heart cutouts and the ruffled sparkle gores! I will post final pics when it's done ..g.:

Re: What are you working on? March 2010

I made this to go under a hip belt, the reason why it's a wee bit plain. I have some brown round shells I think should run about 1-2 inches inside the edge.
Part of the reasons I love it is 1. it came from Goodwill as a shirt 2. It has a great hand and 3. So far it has taken about an hour to make.

Re: What are you working on? March 2010
Long time I haven't post on this thread, but I was to busy with our annual show (that was yesterday, and it was a blast!)
So for my solo, I was wearing my "Madame Butterfly" costume (from Luludance) with the matching wristbands and upper arm bands that I made.
The veil was originately white (sold by Goldenpear), dyed yellow and I painted butterflies on it.
I don't have pics from the show yet, but those are from last Tuesday's rehearsal (excuse the "office makeup face" and puffy "lack of sleep" eyes),f::
I also did 3 extra turquoise skirt-gauntlets-headband sets to complete the 3 I had made last Sept. so here is a pic from the same rehearsal.

Re: What are you working on? March 2010
not exactly costuming, but my sis-in-law and i love pinup fashion, and decided paying $15 for a hair flower was ridiculous!!! so we made a trip to michael's bought a thing of barrettes, acrylic gems, funky animal print felt, and some silk flowers.. the results thus far (apologize for cheesy self portrait, will post the rest once my slow computer smartens up) all done in less than an hour[IMG]

Re: What are you working on? March 2010
I bought this red mamdouh from Reinna in January and I didn't care for the way the bra was constructed or the waist strap/belt combo. I removed the 2 upper waist straps and sewed the lower thicker portion around my hips. I took the dangle medallions off and sewed them down. Next: tackle the bra!
Before

After (in the back photo, it is straight but because my body was turned it looks crooked)

Re: What are you working on? March 2010
Finished making the fringe for the belt. Finally! So I am now starting on lining the costume, the straps are done and one part of the belt is done. I think I can have this finished by next week. Once it is finished I will post a pic. After that, I will make a skirt to go with this, I am trying to decide if I should make a sage green skirt (the base color is a sage green) or go lighter/darker as I have both lighter green beads and dark olive type color beads on it.

Re: What are you working on? March 2010
Last night, I started working on a Brazilian samba headpiece for my friend Suzita (BD and samba dancer). Will post pics this weekend... stay tuned!

I found this example on the Web:
Since Suzita is from Peru, she fell in love with it, so I'll try to make a similar version of it. Istead of turquoise feathers they will be royal blue...
