Thread: I need my beads to bling!

I just bought an older Hanan dress with silver beading (looks tarnished). Is there a process to make the silver shine again?

Probably something like Tarn-X you can get at a hardware store or local drug store.

It depends on the metal. If it's silver plate, it will react differently than some other silver-colored pot metals. I would try a mild jewelry cleaner first (you can buy it pre made or mix your own from recipes online), and save Tarn-X as a last resort. Tarn-X is great on some metals, but it can turn some silvers whitish-yellow, and unknown mixed metals black, and everything in between. Whatever you use, test it in a small, inconspicuous area first, in case it does something unexpected.

OTOH, if you're talking about rocaille beads (colored or clear glass beads that are silver-lined) that have lost their shine, you're hosed. All you can do is replace them.
