small D?
what exactly does this mean when it comes to costume descriptions, like some bras they say can fit a/b padded, C with less padding and a small D with minimal or no padding
I see the above all the time. What is a small d? I want to know because I suspect I'm a small D but I'm not sure....
I am a D cup, I wear 34D in Vickis secret bras...
thanks!

Re: small D?
I've been wondering that myself. I assumed it meant someone in between a C and a D that might have a small ribcage.

Many of us could be described as being in between sizes. Also, sometime the "top shelf" is less than the "bottom shelf", and then there are those of us who have "side windows."

Re: small D?
My guess is that a small D would be a narrow ribcage and someone who can wear a C cup in a larger rib size... Like I used to wear a 32D, but also can get away with 34-36C's on occasion. That's what I would assess a small D as - and like Fotia mentioned, not so much on the 'side windows.'
I wear a 34D now - and I have those infamous 'side windows,' which catapult me into DD's at times, depending on bra maker.

Re: small D?
I consider myself a small C. I came to that conclusion because some street bra C sizes are a smidge too big for me and sometimes I can even wear B's comfortably if I am not on my period.
Also, the current way to determine cup size is to subtract band measurement from bust measurement and see where you fall on a chart. Not everyone has a perfect measurement to a full inch.
If a B is 2" difference and a C is 3", and I fall at 2.7, it puts me between sizes, but closer to a C.

Re: small D?
I concur with the small ribcage explanation. I think of "small D" as a D with a small ribcage size, at around 32-34. Cups on a 38D will be larger.

Re: small D?
Yes, if you are in between a C and D cup, with a small to normal ribcage, you are a "small D".
If you can not wear a C cup bra, then you are a full D and a "small D" will not fit.
If you fit comfortably into a C bra, but have a larger rib cage, the cup size itself might be ok or even a smidge big, but they might be too close together in front, causing side spillage, even tho the cup itself is ok.
