Which costume to wear this weekend?
For Lissa Fakir? The Fatme Serhan version. Dancing on a very large stage.
Orange Pharaonics:

Green Eshta:

Re: Which costume to wear this weekend?
I voted for the Orange Pharonics because I thought the orange would stand out in a larger stage.

I vote for the orange. If you are farther from your audience, I think the color will help draw their eyes - especially if you are on a dark background.

If it's a white background....go with the green Eshta! It's gorgeous!

Pretty far. It's not a huge auditorium, but not intimate at all. I think it seats 200-250? I'm trying to find a pic...

Andalee - you look beautiful and joyous in both, but I vote for the green. Very elegant and highlights your colouring tres magnifique!! Especially if it is a light background. Good luck!

if it's a white backdrop then I say the green Eshta. If it's a dark backdrop then the orange. If you don't know for sure what the backdrop will be, bring both costumes just in case. I've done that.

The green looks very classy and elegant on you (both look fabulous on you though!), and I think it will look grand with the white background.

Re: Which costume to wear this weekend?
Wouldn't red lights turn the green into a muddy brown? I love the green but perhaps the orange would pop more in that setting.

Re: Which costume to wear this weekend?
I've stayed quiet on this on as I'd be so obviously biased, but Dunyah brings up a good point. The color of the lights will greatly affect the color of the costume. The beautiful color of your green will not be beautiful under red lights. Momo teaches a special theater workshop where he has a light tech do a light show while Momo goes through a wide array of costume colors. It's definitly something that all dancers need to be aware of.
I vote for taking both and seeing which one would be better suited for the background and lighting used at the time.
Here are a couple of photos I found from a theater seminar Momo did in Zurich (photos courtesy of Alzena-Jardins de Semiramis Dance School).
Colors under bright clear lights. Note that the fabrics are shiny, which reflect the light back. The green here is a brighter, more spring-grass green. No orange, but between the yellow and the red, you should be able to imagine how orange would look.

Under red lights.

Green would look awesome with clear lights, green, blue or yellow. Orange would not look good with green or blue lights, but will go well with all other colors.Last edited by xodinahox; 03-09-2010 at 04:42 AM.

Re: Which costume to wear this weekend?
Great topic! I've searched for articles about stage lighting and found a very nice one, it has a table in the end that will help determine which color would work best for which lighting. Take a look:

Re: Which costume to wear this weekend?
I pulled photos from the last event at that venue. The lights may have changed throughout the show, making my decision even harder. Oh dear.

I guess I am leaning toward the orange at this point, but I am not sure if I have enough time to make a new belly cover for it though. Last night while working on the choreo I decided to add a couple of kicks and arabesques to the number, which would make the orange much more suitable.
