Thread: My first hip scarf

..g.:soooo excited bought my first hip scarf yesterday. it's a pretty deep purple velvet, nice beading & it does make a nice sound, without being to loud. okay okay it's only a hip scarf but it's MINE...LOL. told my son when i got him from cubs you won't believe what i bought. he's like 'yeah mom a thing that goes around your hip that makes noise. they are cool. seen one' he says. oh where. 'a girl a his school did a belly dance...lol.'

My first one was purple velvet too!! What is it about bellydancers and purple?

LOL. Butt bling. I love it.

well i would have gone for blue but my teacher didn't have any blue butt bling...lol. soooo the purple just spoke to me. now i want MORE butt bling.

Mine was black and gold and my heart used to start beating so fast every time I looked at it! Like a new boyfriend it was!!

what a perfect description EXACTLY like a new boyfriend...lol...my heart does beat faster thinking of it. can't wait to practice tonight...lol

I used to put it on at home and practice saying to myself that I needed the scarf to help with my practice. LOL - any excuse, right?

ummm hello how can i NOT practice with it. i'm sure it HELPS me with my practice or it will. no honestly i feel that i move differently with it on. maybe it's in my head...lol.

omg YES my first skirt/tie top/veil set was purple! but of course my hipscarf HAD to clash...it was made out of silvery velvet and had gold coins on it...i still have it :D

Well of course if I don't practice with it well it might get lonley....lol

my first one was a tie dye blue/green/cream/purple combination with three rows of gold coins! my Aunt DeDe gave it to me for my birthday 5 years ago and I'm never getting rid of it!!

Aw, I just passed my first hip scarf on to a kid's school since it doesn't fit me anymore. It was a forest green and silver and only one row of coins, but if I never bought it, I might never have started bellydancing!

Soft yellow chiffon traingle with gold coins....ahhh...wonder what ever happened to her? Sniff.

My 1st was a black chiffon with gold beading and coins. I haven't seen another exactly like it. I still wear it and have promised it to my grandaughter when she is big enough to wear it. She's only 6 so I have a few years to still wear it.

My first was an iridescent orange/forest green chiffon floral with brass coins and pearly orange beads. It's falling apart and I swear I'm going to fix it one day. It's ten years old!

My first was also purple, with silver coins and the evil eye beads on it!

Mine was purple too (or rather, is - I still have it). I still remember the UPS man coming up the driveway with it.

You know, I have thought about this thread all night, and I have to thank you for posting it GypsyStacey. I have been feeling uninspired lately about my dancing lately and haven't felt much enthusiasm. But your excitement is contagious! You have reminded me how I felt when I got my first hip scarf and so I thank you for rekindling that feeling. Congratulations to you and happy dancing!
