making costumes your own
so i just got this gold bedleh from a fellow bhuzzer and i seriously took apart the whole thing cause i really wanted to change it up to add my touch to it...and ofcourse i don't know what "my touch" really would be. i wanna add gold coin fringe to it, but don't know where i can find it? i know KOTN and dahlal have fringe i can buy, but i wanted to get creative and add coins..any ideas of where i can get it?
note, this is my first costume operation. and apparently i'm pretty awesome at taking stuff apart, now making something out of this....eh let's see how it goes...
ive got a thousand ideas in my head but i'm not the best sewer and don't know how this will turn out, but i'll get some sick satisfaction out of it..like yeah, i made this...me...mememememe i made it!..l;,
how do you guys channel your inner creativity? do you just look at pictures of costumes you like and take it from there?
oh oh anddd before i forget, i have been searching for this style skirt EVERYWHERE and have only seen it on sim and legend's sites. i am lusting after this style skirt, where can i get it? sheesh

and feedback would be GREATLY appreciated! :)

Re: making costumes your own
I am not sure what you mean by coin fringe, do you want just a sew on length of coins alone? I think Joann's has trim by the yard you can buy like that, but it's your standard cheaper looking coins...turquoise international has paillette fringe, a mix of regular fringe interspersed with paillettes... and that is an awesome skirt! I hope someone knows where to get it, 'cause I think I might need one too!

Oh, I know what coins you mean! I think those are the Saroyan ones, the zill manufacturer, and I believe they don't make them anymore, they also only came loose, not as a length of trim. If you want coins like that try costless coins, here is a link:
<CENTER> Nature's Gems coins
but, again, I believe they only sell loose coins, they are nice quality though.

That is an awesome skirt. Looks like a mermaid skirt with the chiffon inserts in the gores and a ruffle around the front split?
Who designed that pretty thing?

If it were mine, I'd just add some judicial sprinklings of black sequins to tie the skirt and ruffle into the rest of the costume, which is lovely as it is. Adding noisy coins makes me think of "belling the cat".
Something I found at Joanne's but never ending up using, was some black/gold/black "tigery" short fringe - about 2" x 36". I was thinking of a big-cat type costume at the time such as yours. It's not the sturdy Egyptian fringe of course, but I wanted to use it just for sparkle and not for swinging my hips. Maybe you can find some of that?
As prom time approaches, the fabric stores usually get a ton of paillette & shorter beaded trims in lots of colors. [I bought a bunch of colors once in a frenzy of lust for inexpensive, short length beaded trims!]
