    henna and tanning?

ok so bear with me and i'm sorry if this is an incredibly stupid question but i couldn't find anything on the board that answers it. never had henna done sooo:

i'm thinking of getting some henna done but im also planning on starting back up on a gradual tanner (recital coming up in a month). but im worried how to go about this. haven't exactly decided whether to do a gradual tanner or go to a couple of sessions of spray tanning but either way, do i do this before or after getting the henna done? if i do the henna first, and then the tanner, and want to redo the henna once it starts fading, will it show up dark again?

im thinking of getting some done on each wrist and maybe on my back near my shoulder. and if i can think of a kick ass design, something on the hip :)

Henna does not usually last all that long, so I'd get the henna as late as possible.

how long does it usually last? i was thinking of doing it within the next week to test out designs and then i'd be able to see if i want the same thing redone

It depends a lot on the individual - on my skin, henna tends to get pretty dark and lasts for up to a week in reasonable shape. I am a short-duration-high-intensity henna person ;-)

    Re: henna and tanning?

If I tape and wrap henna overnight, it will last at least 2 weeks on my hands and feet. On my arms and legs, I can get it to last a little over a week. I agree that you should get your henna tattoos closer to the show.

I've used henna simultaneously with gradual sunless tanning lotion before and it doesn't do anything strange.

Henna tends to stay longer on dryer parts of my skin (e.g. the palm of my hand instead of the back). But it still fades after about 3 or 4 days :(
