To Bead [Futher]or not to Bead?
Aliright.
I have here my blue set, finally approaching completion. [Yay!]
My dillema:
I attached a pic of the top too, just to show where I was going. I don't want to totally bead over the fabulous base material I found to use, so I did want to incorporate it into the design quite significantly with 'empty' areas. It worked well on the top, with the bottom-of-cup area clear. See the back? I chose not to fully bead, but rather do that scatter effect. I like it and it looks pretty cool from distance.
I tried the same stuff on the back portions of the belt, but there those bitty-shiny things totally overwhelmed the organic pattern of the sequins and made it look like blue vomit. So I chose instead to do a bead scatter, to fill in space and 'mimic' the same effect but without the overwhelming. It looks nice in person- the photos just won't do it justice, I do apologise.
I don't know where to stop, though! :) In the photos, that is it done totally as I originally intended- just back portions to mimic the back of bra.
However, I am now torn- should I also fill the area above the fringe 'tufts' and leave only the front bit? Should I maybe even do the whole thing- but I am afraid that will end up looking pointless and random instead of as intended. But is it too empty as is?...
I have been staring at this one far too long to be able to make judgements on it anymore.
Opinions anyone? Pretty please?

I'm horible at making decisions lol, but I think it looks great as it is. Lots of light blue mixed in with the darker - beautiful!
Wanna make me one?? lol

I think I would like to see some accenting in the bare spaces on both the bra and belt--nothing to the extent that you have done your scatter on the sides of the bra, but maybe some small rhinestones or beads. I wouldn't go larger than 6mm, and maybe only 1-3 stones per hump of the blue sequined wave, depending on the size of the space. BTW, where is the same blue sequined trim at the ends of the belt? It looks a little odd that the motif doesn't continue out to the edges. I'm expecting to see some sort of symmetry there, because the turquoise wing appliques are roughly symmetric around the "waterfalls," but the blue trim doesn't continue underneath them. Otherwise, it looks great!

Looks great!
I'd only add some more beads on the bra on the underside of that bottom band of beads, but leave the one with the wavy beading/sequins bare to show the fabric.
I'd definitely add more of the same beading you've done on the bra to the belt... I think maybe under the wavy bit on the belt?

Re: To Bead [Futher]or not to Bead?
Thanks for the opinions, folks.
Tourbeau...they do stop/start there intentionally. It [theoretically, it hasn't been crash tested since I beaded that on!] dips to the point on the skirt where the dark blue of the back panel starts. I'll have to see if it works like it was meant to or not when I get them on together. Otherwise I will continue it on out as you suggest.
Amethyst.... Lol, this one has a long story. I had a gorgeous shade-varying dark blue skirt, but it got damaged. I was 'gifted' a cheapie skirt in pale blue that really wasn't a quality I could wear as is.
Both sat in a box. One day I threwa temper tantrum, ripped the gorgeous one to component pieces to see if I had any way to fix or negate the damage. Then I combined it with the cheappie one, for a result that pleases me if nobody else :).
THEN I realised I had no bedlah that would carry it off!
So, yeah...if you don't mind it taking a few years <g>
Hmm...let me see if I can dig up a photo of said skirt.Last edited by Amira_Siddiqah; 03-27-2010 at 01:31 PM.

Ah...
Please excuse my scary lack of suitable jewlery, makeup-other-then-eyeshadow and bad-hair-day...in fact, just excuse the body model :)
This was our dress rehersal for a studio show last year. I wanted to see how the skirt worked, and if the base bedlah and certain accessories fitted nicely, so I wore it on a trial run
As you can see, it isn't actually finished here:) In fact, if he had got a close shot, I think the needle and twine were still attached somewhere!.w.: It certainly had no snap fastners yet. And the dark blue on the belt was missing.
But anyho... that's what the intended skirt looks like. He only took a few shots to try lighting, so no look at the back...the dark panel is ruched in 3 places, so it mimics a bustle-y sort of thing...without the pouf of a bustle. The snip of the second photo shows it a little better, but not much.
Pity I lost my photos of the original skirt when my drive crashed last year.Last edited by Amira_Siddiqah; 03-27-2010 at 01:31 PM.

I think with the two-toned skirt, it's okay to leave the beading as-is. You don't want it to get too busy. (Usually I like bedlahs that are completely covered with no fabric showing, but I like the design on this one.)

Seeing the skirt, I think if you add too much more, it will get too busy. I think you've done a great job and should be proud of yourself.

More fringe on the belt, but besides that, looks great!
But you might not want to listen to me. I am a fringe - o - holic . . .

Hey all
Necroing this one from the pit to post up a few completed photos.
The live action one is endearingly dodgy as always when anyone gets me moving:)
I am super happy with the way this one turned out. Thanks again for the advice and kind donation of your eyeballs!
