Where is opalescent organza?
I love the multi-colored sheen on these Wings of Isis.
Bellydance Props
Back in the '80s, I had a Lady Lovely Locks doll, which had that same multi-colored sheen on its skirt:

It's a much more dramatic effect than most iridescent organza, which is "shot" (woven with threads of one color in one direction, and a different color in a different direction).
I'd love to make a circle skirt of this lovely, over-the-top fabric, but can't find it.
What is this fabric called and where can I find it? Thank you!

It's called crystal organza and even I have a hard time finding it. It runs about $10 a yard in my neck of the woods.

Thanks, Eshta.
After searching, and searching on the internet without success, I walked into JoAnn (a mere 1.25-hour drive away) with the tiny scrap I had and said, "Do you have this?"
She pointed me to the lamé aisle, where I found "pearlized sheer" in a variety of colors, in both crinkle and flat versions. Whoop!

It was $8.99 a yard.Last edited by Juniper; 03-28-2010 at 09:00 PM.

I also found it in Hobby Lobby as "rainbow lamé", but I forgot to check the price. Weird that I'm having no trouble finding it in brick-and-mortar stores, but can't find it online.

Re: Where is opalescent organza?
Went back to Hobby Lobby to pick up a zipper. "Rainbow lamé" is $5.99/yd!
Incidentally, I mentioned earlier that iridescent organza is usually "shot". This stuff (whatever you call it) is also shot--it appear to have fine matte threads in one direction and either multi-colored or iridescent (can't tell which) lurex threads in the other.
