    ::Paging Carrara (satinworship)'s hair::

    *I dont know how to send a private on here, plus I figured we could all benefit =).*

    How do you get so Volume-licious?!?!? Especially in the new pictures that you posted on FB. I've tried everything! Please don't shatter my dreams by telling me that it's a hair piece. I've tried several curling methods and this has been the best I could do:

    but in a short two hours ... it looked like this:

    To maintain curl and fullness you gotta backcomb and you gotta spray. I can't speak for the lovely satin but that's what I have to do.

    Re: ::Paging Carrara (satinworship)'s hair::

    OMG, I'm so flattered that there's a thread devoted to my hair! ..l;,

    Well, for one, it helps to have a Texas-born pinup photographer boyfriend who demands big-ass hair for photo shoots and pouts like an annoying little girl whenever you blow your hair out bone-straight. Incidentally, I've learned to love pouffy hair ,r:;..l;,

    No hairpieces, here. I have a LOT of hair. It's naturally straight-ish and coarse.

    If I'm going for big curls and I have some free time, I like to set Conair jumbo rollers on slightly damp hair. (I put a little bit of Aquage Silkening Oil in my hair to prevent frizz). Then, I leave the rollers in until my hair is dry, take the rollers out, flip over my head and tousle it, and then spray it down. I might finger comb a teeny amount of a texturizing product (like Aquage Freeforming Latex) into select curls for definition.

    Another look that I like is big waves. To get that, I wash my hair at night, apply some mousse with a drop of the Aquage Silkening Oil mixed in, and put my hair into Heidi-style twin braids, and sleep on it. The next morning, I'll take the braids out - voila! Tousled beachy waves. I might go in with a waving iron to touch up the roots and ends, if need be.

    Hope I answered your questions!

    I should try the braids for when I do my mermaid number at TBF this month. I'm so inept at doing anything other than basic blowdrying and minimal teasing! Curlers + me= sadness.

    Amida, you are gorgeous - and so is your hair. But the fact is that, for outdoor gigs especially (like the one in your photo), for most dancers, a hairpiece will stay volume-liscious and continue to compliment your costume with no muss, no fuss and little touch-ups. If you view sometimes adding synthetic hair as part of your costume, you may end up feeling comfortable with it, and it makes life so much easier (and getting-ready-time is greatly reduced, too)!

    do you tease the whole head (curls and all) or just the roots?

    Thank you Devora =). I am certainly not against wearing a hairpiece (especially since it's guaranteed to stay up). I guess I was curious, because in her picture it looks almost to good to be true (in a good way!). I have to also start researching good -and "sweat friendly"- hair pieces. Any reccs on what you've used?

    Thank you for your response Carrara, I think my kinky hair will require a whole lot more work though but it'll try it as a start!
